World of Secrets: Development Update #35

Greetings, Seekers of Secrets,

We started working on 0.6.7 at the beginning of the month, and this time the wait between updates won't be a long one like before. Let's start by explaining the short gap between 0.6.6 and this version. Back in April, our lead artist left us to fulfill his military service, which paused the visual production side of things for a while. Everything else at the studio kept moving at full speed.

Here's a quick look at what we've been up to during this time.

Lesson in Loyalty: Steam Page Is Live

The Steam page for Lesson in Loyalty is now live. Adding it to your wishlist means a lot to us. The dialogue revision for the first chapters of the script is also complete.

Our Lead Developer's Wife's Project

What's Waiting for You in 0.6.7

The main focus of this update is Nyra. The previous update centered on Alma's story, and this time it's Nyra's turn. For the next update after this, we're preparing new content for Sahar. We won't go into details about what's inside, because we don't want to spoil the surprise.

The main storyline is moving forward as well, of course, but the weight of this version is clearly on Nyra's side. If you haven't unlocked Nyra's route, just a heads-up: there won't be a lot of new content waiting for you in this update.

On top of that, all language translations will be fully up to date with 0.6.7. No language will be left behind with missing or outdated dialogue.

The Final Stretch Toward 0.7.0

We're getting close to the finish line with Interactive Free Roam. There's roughly three updates left until 0.7.0. With every version, the system gets a little more polished and a little closer to completion.

A Note on Our Release Rhythm

This update might be shorter than some of the previous ones, and that's intentional. Outside of full milestone versions like 0.7.0 or 0.8.0, we'll be releasing a mix of shorter and longer updates. Something worth keeping in mind: World of Secrets is still very much a game in active development.

To give you an example, an update like 0.6.8, 0.6.9, or even 0.7.3 might end up being a backward-looking one instead of a forward-looking one. A version where we fill in gaps in past scenes and rework certain sections. We're working on a massive game that receives regular updates at short intervals, and not every update is about adding new content. Sometimes making what's already there even better is a step forward too.
