The Expanse Season 3 Episode 13 Full Length Review and Reaction (open to five and ten dollar patrons)!
Hi all! Finally, as a special surprise to honor my reaction to the final episode of The Expanse (or at least, the final episode that is currently available), I am going to give access to my full length reaction to episode 13 to all patrons from Stark level on up. Of course, I'll eventually be editing this down to the standard ten minutes of clips for YouTube. However, I thought that this would be a nice way to celebrate this milestone on patreon!
This episode left me feeling surprisingly emotional! I'm very excited to see what will happen in the upcoming season. Next week, I'll be reacting to the trailers for Season 4 and starting to plan out my future Expanse videos. Thank you all so much for going on this journey with me! I hope you enjoy this video!
All the best,
Molly

I really enjoyed the reviews and rewatching through your perspective. You have some awesome insights. Looking foward to your book reviews and comparisons to the show and some great discussions.
Molly, Thank you for the ride. You have been a pleasure to watch and your insights and thoughts have been spot on and so interesting to see your views develop with the show. I can't remember if I have suggested this video before but Bora Kutlu put this out on May 18 2018 just after the cancellation and it was so inspiring to all of us who were fighting to #Save The Expanse. Here is the link. I still feel emotional when I see it. Looking forward to your book reviews! I have read them all and cannot recommend them highly enough. The differences melt away over time but you will notice them of course. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WplL1eYq0lA
Great reactions. I've enjoyed rewatching these episodes through your eyes. Glad you enjoyed them as much as the rest of us fans do. Sometimes when I talk about the show, I think I may be “over-hyping” it, so I feel somewhat vindicated when others agree that it gets better from season to season. I’ve just started reading the books myself (I wanted to wait till the end of S3 before starting). I’m a little disappointed in some other reactors who seem more concerned with how “faithful” the shows are to the books (I.e., word-for-word and scene-for-scene), rather then how well they have adapted the story to the different medium. (If you can’t tell, I think they’ve done an amazing job.) As far as other things to watch, I’d recommend any Expanse panels and cast interviews from SDCC2019, as med as any other ComicCons. It’s impressive to see joust how much joy the cast and crew have in working on this show. There are several AfterBuzz videos (one for each episode) that are interesting. In particular, this one the aired after S3E10…greta insight into actresses Dominique Tipper and Cara Gee: https://youtu.be/chbJOfDeF04 Looking forward to your future reactions.
Cas Anvar (Alex) did a great behind the scenes video for season 3. It's about 30 minutes long and I haven't seen any of the other Expanse reactors check it out yet. I would love to see you react to it. Also there are 3 pieces of video out there for season 4. The SDCC trailer, the SDCC 5 minute clip, and the TCA sizzle real that came with the season 5 announcement.
I wrote 2 weeks ago (and not sure you’ve read it): Book – show discussions are more than welcome. As for character arcs, the show is so well written that every single character that has at least 2 minutes screentime would deserve a video of their own. :) J-P Mao and his daughters, Amos changing a bit (makes his own choices lately), Naomi leaving her „family” to „play Belter” (quoting Amos) and then returning to them… and all the others as well. If you feel like, you could try to figure out Drummer, cuz while I love her character immensely, she’s still a mystery for me. And then her relationship with Naomi and Ashford (though the latter you’ve discussed quite in depht since then), and… so on. I wouldn’t even mind if you talked a bit about the gradual change of Miller’s and Octavia’s relationship, their attitudes toward each other in S1, which kind of reversed in the span of 7 episodes. And I might mention Diogo’s arc, though as I see it that’s not really an arc because he didn’t change much, he was a radical from the beginning to his demise, despite the fact that he praised Miller as a hero of the Belt in spite of Miller having warned him against OPA fanatics like Dawes. So, quite a lot of fascinating characters and arcs to discuss, any and all of them I would heartily welcome. And last but not least, thank you for this amazing feat, you finished all three seasons with absolutely superb reactions to each episode. It was a great pleasure for me to watch them, each one of them multiple times. Thank you.
Molly. I just want to thank you so much for your hard work and insight. It's been a real pleasure watching this for the first time again through your eyes. Looking forward to the trailer reactions (2 trailers and a 5 minute clip) and I'll be tuning in for the Expanse series book club. Sounds like fun, and it'll help with the withdrawals til December. Oh, and I heartily second Belinda's Zurik23M suggestion. The guy's a genius.
The most eerie thing about all this is that the unknown aggressor who wiped out this seemingly god-like civilization is presumably still out there.
I think Molly touches on one of the many aspects of The Expanse that I love in her post episode commentary. The characters are always displayed in a complex way. And the show takes the time to show us their perspective. Each character thinks they are doing the right thing. Even the antagonist oriented characters are complex. there are no “mustache twirling” villains. Love this aspect of the show... Along with many others!
Only 126 days *quietly crying to myself* lol
Could you imagine if they would have left us with that.... It would have been horrific. Yes they closed off most of the storylines, unlike other shows cut down in their prime, but OMG could you just imagine the horror of that cliffhanger with no future. Thankfully we don't have to deal with that.
Even knowing how this was gonna end, I was unprepared for how emotional this was in the series. I think part of it for me was reading this (and the ring lifting off Venus) it was one of two scenes I've been waiting years to see come to life on screen. I think I wept through the last 10 mins lol So I totally get why it hit you emotionally! Looking forward to your S4 trailer and teaser reaction. There is a great bts vid I'd love for you to check out.. search The Expanse Season 2 Crew Dance on You Tube, it's all the great people in front of and behind the camera on TE..they shot it on Tom Janes last day, when they shot "Home" I think you'd love it. Also Zurik 23M(on You Tube) does the most beautiful Expanse trailers/tributes on the show in general and also character tributes, they are amazing! Please check them out. Thanks Molly! xx
Clarissa's decision at the end was handled a little differently in the books. You already know in broad strokes how it ends, but spoilers for Abbadon's Gate follow: * * * She hated Holden for what he did to her father, but she realized that even though Holden was responsible for her father being imprisoned, he had never actually lied about anything. So when Holden said they had to stop the Behemoth from firing or they'd kill everyone, she believed him.
I enjoyed the ride and looking forward to your season 4 reviews. Drummer was magnificent in this, always trying to sacrifice herself and she became my favorite character in the 3rd season. Fantastic performances all around. Here's a behind the scenes look at a "double-up day" courtesy of Cas Anvar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sFQkNiuBGg
So... kinda, woulda, sorta sucked if that were the last episode ever of this fantastic show, huh? So, so very happy it got saved.
Congratulations... only the 4th Reactor to finish season 3. Thanks for the great journey.. Looking forward to sharing the journey of season 4 together. :)
