Holden is in "Amos" mode right now and needs Naomi to bring him back.
Holden always has problem dealing with losing someone close to him. When he lost the Cant including his girl friend, he let his rage get the better of him. Ever this latest spiral since Eros is because he lost his Miller. Holden sees Miller like an older brother. The two men treasures very similar values like compassion, fair play and equality. It's just Miller would "rather be the boot than the ass" and Holden "don't want to be the boot". All of Holden's rage when Miller kill Dresden is just him being angry that his "bro" disappointed him. Holden gave people he hate (like Dawes) his barely contained disdain. He shows his anger for "family".
ps. The Martian's ambassador's speech, it echoed what Bobby's commander said to her as well, about the current generation of Martians being weak, and losing site of the big picture. File that notion away, as its an important concept for the much larger story arc.
Remember Erinnwright finds out about Avasarala's contact with Mao after the letter and son. Not sure what his plans were, whether is was suicide, or just covering himself for the scandal of the trial etc. But when he finds out about Mao, he sees another out. As far as Holden, he can't help but charging at windmills, he's Don Quixote after all :) That dock scene, makes me tear up EVERY time I watch it, it is so powerfully done.
Re: Mao's motivation, I don't think it's just about power for him. He is a narcissist, but I also think he really does believe that the protomolecule is humanity's future. The weapons sales are just a way to get the governments on board with his research, so that they'll give him funding/protection to continue his work, or at the very least not hinder his research.
Avasarala. Cotyar. Bobbie. Team A.B.C. forever!!
"Bobby and the cucumbers." Does it sound like a song title?
i wonder how many she ate that day
Molly, I am assuming that someone told you that you, MUST, MUST, MUST, watch and react to the YouTube video "The Expanse Crack" AFTER you finish Season 2. If not, then this is your instruction to do so. Trust me... you will love it. Here is the link, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfKs17yfy2I
Those cracks are fantastic, this and the one for season 3. I also hope Bad Lip Reading will do a treatment of the show,
Thank you for a very moving reaction. A little bit of Titanic and possibly Aliens? Where's Ripley when you need her? I think Errinwright changed his mind about suicide when he looked at what I believe was a cyanide vial. I don't think it was the drug used on Korshunov), but it gave him the idea.
The drug was on the program booklet that Korshunov was still holding in his hand when they entered the room. As Errinwright explicitly explained to the dying Martian minister, holding up the booklet, it was an enzyme absorbed instantly through the skin.
I was wondering how this episode would go. You definitely didn't see the Errinwright twist coming :) I really like Errinwright and Jules Pierre Mao, they make great characters and the actor choices are great. I believe his plans changed once Avasarala said she was going to meet with Mao, because he could track her and get his location, and threaten him. There is a nice cameo in the next episode, we'll see if you spot it.... Once again the end of the book will be mid season in S3, but the next episode is one of my favorites :)
I agree, I too think that Errinwright changed his mind during his conversation with Avasarala.
