The Expanse Season 2 Episode 5 Full Review and Reaction!
And now that Drive is FINALLY done uploading, here's episode 5! As I mentioned in my last post, I will continue trying to get the screen captures of the episode itself, so that I can edit it into this full reaction (as well as complete my shorter reaction videos). My current attempt involves a different computer. So, hopefully that'll do the trick!
Until then, please enjoy this video of me having an emotional breakdown! Haha I definitely see what everyone was saying about this episode! Miller... Julie... ;-; oh god.

Definitely up there as one of the best tv episodes I've ever seen. On my first viewing I didn't notice this, but I fucking love that little moment when they're all toasting at the end, when Amos just quickly smirks and toasts the air for Miller, such a good little detail. Amos is best boi.
Yes! I saw that during the editing stage! Oh Amos... Amos, I've really come to love him (which is very good for me because Miller was my favorite and now he's gone)!
Funny, I never picked up on your observation that each group had to trust the next, which was unable to pull it off, in turn, trusting the next.....and each of them normally wouldn't trust each other to do so Can't stop the work I know my opinion is probably not so popular, I often love the bad guys, and the casting for bad guys in this show (ok, every character) is spot on. Having seen Shawn Doyle as Erinwright, I couldn't imagine it by anyone else.... he does a really good job in that role. Show doesn't really slow down, its got a lead foot on the accelerator... enjoy the ride....
Lol I am EXACTLY the same, I often find myself really liking and sometimes almost rooting for certain antagonists, Erinwright being one of them. The actor just does such a good job, I love all of his scenes.
In my mind, this is the greatest scfi fairytale ever told. That kiss 2as improvised by Tom and Florence during that shoot, it wasn't in the script.I broke as soon as the sparrow showed up. The whole fandom was a mess that night during live tweeting..even those of us who knew what 2as coming(although the book was slightly different) Fun fact, this aired on Tom Janes Bday. He is not a social media person but did live tweet with us for this ep. Another fun fact, Hawk Ostby(show creater) read the books and after reading the throne room scene in the book, he became inspired to bring this story to screen. Basically the show exists because of that scene. This ep is written by him and Mark Fergus. Truly, it just keeps getting bigger and better! Thanks Molly xox 💜
Oh God... I cannot even imagine watching this live as it happened and having everyone live tweeting through it, WITH Tom Jane being there too! At least everyone could rely on each other while trying to process it though, I suppose! I'm not surprised that scene was the catalyst for the creation of the show. As I was watching it (and then even more so over the past few days), it really felt as though everything we've seen over the past season and a half ultimately came down to that moment. I have a lot more to say about that during the beginning of my next Expanse video!
Your reaction is just as heartbreakingly beautiful as the episode itself.
Thank you so much! That is incredibly kind of you to say!
Molly , just wanted to thank you for sharing your reactions and rekindling that initial emotional response that I had when I first watched it. I've rewatched the series 3 times and each time I pick up new details and references, but really envy those who experience it for the first time. Echoes ... the sparrow leading Miller into Julie's room was seen in the flashback of Julie in her last vision, and Miller told Naomi that Julie says to him that "you belong with me". Whatever the protomolecule is, it transcends space and time. "I can't stop the work" is also important to keep in mind going forward. On a lighter note, my wife was raised Mormon and left the church on not the friendliest of terms, so when it was suggested that the Nauvoo was to be used as a battering ram, she got a real kick out of that, almost got up and cheered.
As soon as I saw the sparrow, I thought about Julie in her final moment (though... was it truly final since part of her lives on?) - and it just hit me that Miller probably was about to die. They took me on a wild ride with these two episodes! I really believed he was about to die at the end of 2x4... then they restore my hope... then they make me realize he's going to die again... and then somehow make me feel like that was the best thing that could have happened to him. Amazing. And that is hilarious about your wife's reaction! Thank you for sharing that with me!
I couldn't help but laugh to myself at your promise to talk at the end of "Home." I was like...."Yeah... that ain't gonna happen... She has no idea what's about to occur..." This episode just hits too hard in the feels. All I had to do was look at the total time of just under 49:00 minutes to confirm it. Collect your thoughts and give us your thoughts next time. That was fun to watch again Molly, thank you.
I was so wrong lol. You're right, I had no idea what was coming! I wanted to talk about everything so badly too but I was just feeling way too choked up!
Honestly, what good are reaction videos if you can't get someone to watch something that gives them an emotional breakdown :)
Hahaha it really is kind of the point, isn't it?
