UPDATE - BAD NEWS

Hey guys. Really very unfortunate news. I just spent the past couple of hours filming a reaction to "Crimson Tide" (an excellent movie by the way). Now that I am going into editing it, I've discovered that my mic picked up zero audio. And there's nothing I can do. No way to recover it. So, unfortunately, this reaction is simply lost and cannot exist (and I wasted the day). I'm very sorry about this, especially for those of you who were hoping to see this reaction in particular. It was an excellent movie and I'm incredibly unhappy right now! My apologies once again. I have no idea why this happened but now I'm off to troubleshoot.

Well, shit happens. If you want another great performance from Gene Hackman, try The Quick, and the Dead by Sam Raimi, with Sharon Stone, Russel Crowe, Lance Henriksen, Keith David, Leonardo DiCaprio, Gary Sinise, and a few others I can't remember of the top of my head (yes, the cast is THAT stacked in this). And if submarines are your thing, there's that movie I mentioned earlier - On the Beach (that's more bleak, than everything - imagine an extremely depressing version of Children of Men, but with no hope, and a gut punch for good measure). For something more cheerful, if you liked Airplane!, there is Police Squad - a 6-part tv series that got cancelled for being too clever, and then turned into the Naked Gun movies (but Police Squad is 10x funnier). Could also do something from 1984 (my birth year), and there's a ton of stuff to choose from: Tank, Red Dawn, Police Academy, Ghost Busters, Karate Kid, Footloose, Once Upon a time in America, Top Secret! (first Val Kilmer film, from the team that made Airplane), Rhinestone (with Dolly Parton, and Sly), The Last Starfighter, Neverending Story, The Terminator, Beverly Hills Cop, Dune (the David Lynch version), A Christmas Carol (best version, and I'll die on this hill) - yes, all that came out in 1984.

1984 was a good year for movies!

Gremlins are real. I would also like to take this moment to mention Das Boot (1981) for the next time the opportunity for a submarine movie reaction surfaces.

I'm so sorry to hear that☹️ maybe you can just do a review on the movie instead. What can I say, sh** happens 🫤

Pretend you were making a silent movie, and add inter-titles of what you think you might've said at certain points...

LMAO the temptation to write ridiculous things

No worries, these things happen. Day isn't wasted though—consider it a day off of editing for Labor Day, and you still saw a good movie. Maybe two mics going in the future just in case?

Yeah I don't really know what happened! I always check before starting too (and did today as well). I think it was streamlab's fault tbh

If it makes you feel any better, I forgot my reading glasses today.

Damn, sorry to hear 😭

Apparently your mic decided the Crimson Tide reaction was classified information and deleted the evidence 😭💀 Two hours of work, now resting peacefully at the bottom of the ocean. ⚓️🪦

Mic thought we were going silent just like the Alabama

J
Joe Crammond · September 7, 2026

that is painful, hours of reacting and no audio picked up
