Legendary Stories — New Setting [12 short stories] and Subclass!
Hey heroes! This is a unique setting from the Saddlebag that dives deep into some of the favorite or unexplained flavor texts that have been written over the last three years! There are some surprising connections, intriguing resolutions, and open-ended conclusions! Each story includes a series of adventure hooks so that your players can play a pivotal role in the legend surrounding the stories, and gives you all the relevant flavor texts and new ones to share with your players when retelling the story!
If you like reading item flavor texts, this is for you! Included in this document are the following stories:
Duvra, the Trickster Dragon
Irina Fletch’s Planar Travels
Leolan’s Escapades

The subclass for this setting is the warlock's new patron: the Valiant! This subclass reimagines what a martial warlock can be using their existing kit. Condense your eldritch blast into an eldritch blade, slashing at enemies for each beam you would make, and support yourself and your allies with defensive magical abilities! Become a hero of legend, just like your patron was!
Speaking of the subclass, here's a reminder that we also have official subclass playtest sessions on the Discord for Esteemed and Legendary Heroes! So please feel welcome to sign up for them and get early looks and hands-on time with them! As always, further revisions will be made here with published updates as they're released!

Warlock v. 1.22
Added in a requirement to cast eldritch blast as an action to manifest the blade. This will prevent 4x attacks with the 1d12 weapon at higher levels with opportunity attacks with the War Caster feat. You can still cast a normal eldritch blast in that case, but those attacks would be at disadvantage because of the ranged component of the spell against a close target.

Can the Eldritch Blade be used with Two Weapon Fighting?
I’m rather technical. I just feel guilty regarding asking such fine detail questions 😂
Would Eldritch Invocations that effect Eldritch Blast also apply to Valiant strike? Considering that hitting creatures with Eldritch blade counts as being hit with eldritch blast, does the Agonizing Blast eldritch invocation apply to the Valiant Strike ability? Considering that Valiant Strike summons a massive version of eldritch blade.
Valiant Strike isn't the same as hitting something *with* the blade, so your invocations wouldn't apply to that effect the same way they would with the Eldritch Blade. Good question!
Any reason why the 6th level ability is once per short and long instead of # of prof per long rest? Is there a preference to one or the other?
Once per short rest is the classic design of Warlock 6th levels, and for something simultaneously defensive and offensive like this, once a short rest became the better option.
This is super cool, just wanted clarification on the level 6 ability. Do you know the shield spell and thus able to use it with spell slots? Or can it only be used with the ability?
It's only usable with that ability!
Well mission accomplished.
Ah. Appreciate the clarification. I notified my DM about swapping this with my Hexblade patron. I would say, this homebrew is superior to the hexblade. The spells are party friendly, the mechanics and themes play into the fantasy of the subclass. Which the Hexblade lacks. Superb work!! (Better than Wizards of the Coast) 😊
Yessssssssss! That's the goal with this! Thank you so much, and have fun with it!
I’m confused about the added benefits of Eldritch Blade when you have Pact of the Blade. I can replace 1 eldritch blade attack with 1 pact weapon attack. If I have extra attacks with my pact weapon, the text reads “ you can replace the same number of attacks using your pact weapon in this way”. Does that mean I can replace all of my eldritch blade attacks with pact weapon attacks? ( 2 attacks 5th level, 3 attacks 11th level, 4 attacks at 17th level)
Hey Gabe! If you have the extra attack option from the Thirsting Blade invocation (2 attacks with your Pact Weapon), you can replace up to 2 Eldritch Blade attacks with ones from your Pact Weapon. Something like a Fighter 11/Warlock 3+ could do the same thing with 3 attacks instead because of the added attacks granted at Fighter's 11th level.
Is there any chance to get the secret letter to princess wingwumm? xD Also, in the Sir Alex Varion Section, "Lost Toekn" you write that HE has gone on a quest.
Great catch! Somehow the rest of that sentence went missing! Give it a redownload! It *should* have read: Lost Token. Warrior Queen Anya Wingwumm (gladiator with a Charisma score of 18) has donned a disguise and begun a quest to find a precious memento: the locket she gave to Sir Varion prior to his death. She is willing to pay adventurers for assistance on the final leg of this journey, but does her best to maintain a veil of secrecy about her identity and the locket’s relevance. And I wanted to leave the letter open ended so GMs could do with it what they wanted to, but I might write it when we get to Amphibios as a setting in...March!
Does the Valiant Warlock have a spelling error in the 14th level keystone? Or is it also Heroic Resistance?
Fixed! Give that a redownload. The capstone is called Valiant Strike!
