THE FINAL Elite Workshop, Day 1! What kind of item should we make?

Hey heroes!

Man, we've been doing these for a while, huh? For those of you who have participated in these, or even left as little as one comment here before, thank you! These weekly workshops have been fun, and I hope you've had fun being a part of them.

Even though these two-part workshops are ending as part of the Patreon update starting on Monday, I encourage you to vote in the weekly Renowned Ideas polls! These are larger polls that use items suggested from the popular Discord server.

The general process goes like:

1) Post an item idea and writeup (however vague) in the #heroes-ideas-chat channel. Talk it through with the community to make it work and read the way you want it to at the proper rarity. Then...

2) Paste it the #hero-finished-items channel. This is a repository of all the submitted patron suggestions. Each week, patrons can nominate an item from that channel in...

3) ...the #hero-bag-nominations channel. From there, a custom bot (the Saddlebot, no less) collects the nominations and pulls 7 out of a make-believe hat. Those 7 items are then put up for the votes there!

All this goes to say that if you like making items and want to interface with me and the rest of the community, you should really join the Discord!  And be sure to connect your Patreon and Discord accounts so you can see all the cool stuff you get as part of your Patreon support there!

I really hope to see you all there!

Anyway, you all know the drill. Since this is a special event, let's have three particularly wild directions to choose from:

**Stormdrake's Soul** *Weapon (pike), legendary (requires attunement)* This heavy bronze pike was crafted by a legendary draconic master of storms and contains a bolt of pure draconic lightning suspended in its core. While holding this pike you gain resistance to lightning damage, are immune to the effects of extreme wind and precipitation, and successful attacks made with it deal an additional 1d10 lightning damage. **Stormcry.** As an action you can focus the elemental lightning to create a storm centered on yourself. The swirling wind makes the area in a radius of 30 ft difficult terrain, and when you make an attack with the pike on your turn its range is increased by 20 ft. Attacks made beyond its regular range deal lightning damage instead of piercing. If you are outdoors in stormy conditions the radius increases to 60 ft, the additional attack range increases to 50 ft, and you can deal an additional 1d10 lightning damage on an attack once on your turn. The storm can be heard out to 300 ft. This effect lasts for 1 minute or until you dispel it as a bonus action. Once used, it cannot be used again until the next dawn. **Stormfracture.** As an action you can destabilize the suspended lightning to shatter the spear, imbuing you with its raw energy. The weather around you immediately becomes a torrential storm as by *control weather*, and this effect even creates storm conditions within enclosed areas. An electrical copy of the pike that deals lightning damage forms in your hand and you are considered to have the benefits of the Stormcry ability. After 1 minute the energy overwhelms you, blasting outward in a colossal wave of energy. All creatures within 60 ft must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw or take 8d6 lightning damage, or half as much on a success. You automatically fail this saving throw and suffer a level of exhaustion.

[Dragon] Prism, Omenclaw of Eprakilsym (legendary, requires attunement) This longsword features an elegant curvature that seems impossible with the rigid, crystalline structure of its crackle-quartz blade. When it is swung or simply moves through the air, the blade catches and refracts light, creating a scintillating show of constellations within it. Crafted from a claw of the ancient crystal dragon Eprakilsym, this sword grants the wielder insight to an opponent's future movements in battle and can allow the user to launch arcs of starlight at distant foes. While attuned and wielding this weapon, you gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with the weapon. The weapon deals an additional 1d10 radiant damage on a hit and you gain temporary hit points equal to 10 + the radiant damage dealt this way. Once on each of your turns when you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack using this weapon, you can record the result on the d20 you rolled for the attack. You can have only one result recorded this way, and recording a new result replaces the previous recorded result. As a reaction when you miss with a melee weapon attack made with this weapon, you can use the d20 result you have recorded for the missed attack instead, potentially turning a miss into a hit, and the recorded result is then lost. If you record a result that would be a critical hit, the attack roll you later replace is also scored as a critical hit. Lastly, you can make ranged weapon attacks with the sword when you take the attack action by swinging the blade through the air to launch a silver, 5-foot wide arc of starlight at a creature you can see within 100 feet of you. This ranged attack uses the same ability score you would use to make melee attacks rolls with the weapon, and deals 2d10 radiant damage on a hit. Ranged weapon attacks made with this weapon do not grant temporary hit points as melee weapon attacks do.

The Guardian’s Scale Wondrous item, legendary (requires attunement) This large silver scale is set within a platinum base is said to be from an ancient silver dragon who once protected a city. While attuned to the necklace, you gain immunity to cold damage and know and speak Draconic. As an action, you can call upon the power of the ancient silver dragon and gain the following benefits for the next one minute: • You grow large dragon wings, gaining a fly speed of 60 feet • You are resistance to fire damage • You gain 25 temporary hit points • The ground in a 15-foot radius around you is icy and is difficult terrain for creatures other than you. The radius moves with you. • You can spend an action to create a 25-foot cone of freezing wind from a strong wing flap in a direction you choose. Each creature in the cone must make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw. A creature takes 6d6 cold damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. A creature that fails its save against this effect has its speed halved until the start of your next turn. [Recharge on 6 on 1d6] If you fail a saving throw, you can choose to succeed instead. Once you have used this effect, you can’t use it again until the next dawn.

[Dragon] Glasstrom, Crown of Azarotep (legendary, requires attunement) This helmet is made from the horn and scales of Azarotep, an ancient blue dragon that rose to the station of suzerain and commanded an army of whirling, desert warriors whom he imbued with a modicum of his own sorcerous might. While attuned and wearing the helmet, you gain a +2 bonus to AC, immunity to lightning damage, and truesight out to a range of 120 ft. Additionally, as a bonus action, you can create a 60-foot radius, 100-foot tall cylinder, centered on and moving with you, that is a whirling vortex of sand. The vortex lasts for 1 minute, lightly obscures the area, and the strong winds turn the area to difficult terrain for other creatures within the vortex. When you create the vortex and as a bonus action on each of your subsequent turns while the vortex lasts, you can unleash a line of lightning, as a blue dragon's breath weapon. When you do, the lightning melts and fuses some of the sand into glass shards, which whirl about the vortex to slice creatures caught within the storm. A creature that enters or starts its turn within the vortex must make a dexterity saving throw, taking 2d10 slashing damage on a failure or half as much on a success. Each time you unleash a line of lightning, more sand is glassed and the slashing damage increases by 1d10. Once you use this feature, you can't do so again until the next dawn. (Edited to reserve a name I'd like to keep).

[Dragon] Keyspark, the Heart of Biranjavinca (legendary, requires attunement by a spellcaster) This blazing, fist-sized mote of essential fire is the burning heart of Biranjavinca, an ancient brass dragon who underwent the process to become a hollow dragon so she could forever guard a sacred forge and foundry. You can attune to the mote and use it as a spellcasting focus. While attuned to it, you gain a +2 bonus to spell attack rolls and your spell save DC, and fire damage you deal from spells you cast ignore resistances and immunities to fire damage. You can also place the mote in a forge. When you do, the forge can be used by anyone with a hammer and a sufficient amount of steel or finer metals to craft magic weapons that can project a brass dragon's fire breath once a day, or armor that provides immunity to fire damage. The user does not need proficiency with smith's tools when crafting at a forge that is lit with the mote, and the mote is not expended when it is placed and used in a forge. Lastly, performing a ritual and placing the mote within an appropriately sized and valued shell of metal can restore Biranjavinca to her hollow dragon form.

The final roar! Wondrous item (scroll), legendary This scroll details the fall of a mighty dragon (or Astra Griffin whoever wins), and has entrapped the creatures final moments in its paper. Over the course of one hour, you can read this scroll and recite the story written. A creature that can hear you must succeed on a DC 18 Charisma saving throw or be charmed by the story. One the story ends, each creature within 30 feet of the scroll takes 12d12 psychic damage and start crying as the scroll lets out the mental sound of the creatures last roar. Damage dealt this way cannot reduce a creature below 1 hit point.
