Elite Workshop Day 1 — What kind of HALLOWEEN item should we make?
Hey heroes! It's time to make a new item together!
Please vote on a direction and leave a comment with an item idea that's as refined or as vague as you like.
Three or more of your commented suggestions relating to the winning item direction will be up for a follow-up vote tomorrow!
Remember that this will be an official Saddlebag item and will not credit anyone for the ideas generated through this process. Please only bring ideas you're comfortable with sharing to the workshop!
Let's make something exciting together! See you back here tomorrow!

**Stone Candy** *Wondrous item, uncommon* This simple satchel is full of small, grey candies with a colorful interior, resembling geodes. A bag of them comes with 5d4 + 7 candies. When you eat one, you must make a DC 5 Constitution saving throw or become petrified for 1 minute; you can choose to fail this saving throw. You can eat up to 10 candies at one time, and each one increases the time by 1 minute.
[Magic Candy] **Eye-Scream Lollipop** *Wondrous item, uncommon* This strangely warm lollipop appears to be an eyeball of some creature’s that shifts its vision about. The lollipop is solid and slowly dissolves in the mouth after one minute. Once you have consumed the lollipop, as an action, you can hiccup to pop an eye out of your socket and place it at a point you can reach. The eye has the *alarm* spell centered on it in the shape of a 40-foot cube. The effect ends after 12 hours or until you place your eye back in its socket. The bell sound is replaced by a loud scream that everyone can hear in a 120 feet radius.
[Magic Candy] **Savvy Snacks** **Wondrous item, uncommon* Savvy snacks are typically found in large jars containing 1d4+8 snacks. These jelly delights are actually portions of brain matter that have been preserved. When you consume one of these snacks, you gain proficiency with a skill or tool selected by the Game Master or chosen at random. If you already have proficiency with that skill or tool, your proficiency bonus is doubled. While you have this new-found proficiency, you may be subject to random memories of the creature where the brain came from. Immediately after eating one of these snacks, you must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, you take 2d8 necrotic damage and you are overcome by nausea, causing you to retch the savvy snack which is no longer magical. You lose the skill or tool proficiency when you complete a long rest or when you consume another one of these snacks.
Wild Magic Sugarbombs Wondrous item, uncommon? These Sugarbombs usually come in packs of four. A creature can use its action to consume one. At the start of that creatures next turn, it must roll on the Sorcerer Wild Magic table, using the rolled effect. If the creature is unable to cast spells, it uses its Charisma ability modifier to cast the spell.
The Wild Magic table isn't SRD, sadly, and the candy made in year 1 did something very similar to these, too!
Classic Monster - Werewolf Therian Cowl A hooded half-cape styled and patterned as a fierce wolf. By using your action to speak the command word and pull up the hood, you can assume the form of a docile beast of small size, such as a sheep, pigeon, cat, or any other small creature appropriate to your current surroundings and environment. Your game statistics don't change while you are in this form. The first time you make an attack against a creature that is unaware of your true form while you are in the guise of a small beast, you gain a +10 bonus to the attack roll, and the attack deals additional damage equal to a number of d6's equal to your proficiency bonus. Hit or miss, you revert to your true form when you make the attack.
Classic Monster - Ghost Geist Shawl A tattered and faded linen shawl that grants the wearer 300' of incorporeal movement each day, using a bonus action to activate and deactivate the ability and a slightly phased-out appearance.
or TOE-DILLY AWESOME HARDCANDY where you grow another toe for 1d6 hours. But the toe doesn't grow on your foot...
like CURSED CANDY CORN where you grow another ear for 1d6 hours.
Some of the effects from the original Halloween candy did similar stuff to this, but this gives me an idea!
Gloves made from the flesh of a zombie and enchanted. They allow you to handle objects as if you were dead, or an evil creature. Making you able to handle a cursed objects or unholy item without negative affects or taking dmg. But touching holy or good objects burns the flesh gloves off your hands.
Frankenfibrillators: 2 bolts that attach to the side of your neck, granting you advantage on death saving throws . Also, when you suffer lightning damage, you gain the effects of the haste spell until the end of your next turn.
This is *really* clever. Nice!
A glass orb that you can use to imprison a ghost. When you break it, the ghost is released and attempts to possess a target of your choice within a certain range. If the possession is successful, you can control the target for a period of time (and hour, until midnight, etc) when the ghost breaks free of your control and becomes immediately hostile to you/any creature nearby. Entering hallowed ground, dispel evil or good, or any effect that would turn undead also ends the effect
Classic Monster - Golem, Flesh (Frankenstein's Monster) Neck Bolts Whenever you take lightning damage while attuned to these metal bolts that attach to either side of your neck, you gain the benefits of the Haste spell until the end of your next turn, with no wave of lethargy when the benefits end. Additionally, if you would take lightning damage while you have 0 hit points, you instead regain hit points equal to the lightning damage dealt. Once this feature is used, it can't be used again until the next dawn.
Love the candy idea! I’m running Dungeon of the Mad Mage, and I’m going to have Halaster show up in a bad costume to hand out candy. Maybe something like jelly beans where you roll to determine the effect of different flavors?
You should check out the Oozebeans from year 1! They're just like that!
