The old captain took slow walks through the courtyard during training. While the newer troops would jest that his age was catching up to him, an attempt by one of them to sneak into the larder would prove otherwise. A swift fist from the veteran swung out at the recruit silently from around a darkened corner, forcing a shrill cry from their untrained lips.

Word spread quickly, as it always did, and the stock would be left untouched until the next season's wave of recruits arrived.
