Elite Workshop Day 2 — What item would you want to have when sailing in a storm?
Hey heroes! Thanks for the votes and comments yesterday! Let's make another item together!
These are loose item ideas based on the suggestions from yesterday's direction poll. Some of these may have had their ideas adjusted or combined with other like-minded suggestions. The final product may or may not use the original wording, so these are the core of the items' functionality and flavor.
Ideas
Staff of the Tempest — A powerful staff with a crystal orb at its end. When you look in the orb, you see clear skies. You can use the staff to cast wind magic, or absorb a thunderstorm into it to release at another time, changing the crystal to show only dark, stormy clouds.
Forecaster's Gauge — A strangely shaped glass vial that looks like a peculiar rain gauge. When the vial is filled with precipitation — such as rain, snow, or sleet — you can use an action to speak its command word and prevent more of that precipitant from falling anywhere in a radius around you for a time.
Ring of Rescue — A ring that you can remove and enlarge to throw at a creature within range, creating a life-saver-like ring at the location you send it and allowing you to grant the creature that grabs it to move more freely to your location, sacrificing your own movement speed for theirs.
Lady Phantasma — A rusted, barnacle-encrusted anchor that transforms into a small silver charm while you're attuned to it. You can hold it and speak its command word to call a ghostly ship forth from the Ethereal Plane, allowing you to sail on it from dusk until dawn.
Disc of the Terrarium — A small disc that can can be affixed to a location or vehicle over a time. Once it's affixed, it expands and creates a force-field like dome around the area (up to the space provided, or a set radius), and creates whatever weather conditions within the dome that you choose.
Thanks for the suggestions! Let's make something fun this week!

Disk of the Terrarium sounds like a godsend to mariners. Nothing fun about being tossed around like a toy at sea; what better way to deal with it than nullify it?
Yeah, probably
So if the lady phantasma wins, is it gonna come with a statblock like the Mighty Servant (but like a ship stat like in GoS) or is it just gonna discribe its stats like the Apparatus of Kwalish?
ships already exist with stats in various forms. i'd assume it would use one of those. probably a Longship, Sailing ship, or a Galley. (maybe?)
Forecasters gauge can help a lot of ways beyond the ocean
It could, but it could also lead to a lot of arguments with the DM as to how long it takes to fill.
