This would be especially great for a Dark Sun game. Is the scorpion commanded using your turn (i.e. action) or as part of your turn not requiring your action? The real question, do I lose my action by commanding the scorpion or can I do it and still take my normal action? Some spells/items contain the line "It obeys any verbal commands that you issue to it (no action required by you)" to clear this up.
