Protection of the Shapeless Armor (Studded Leather or Hide? (whichever fits a mimic better)), Rare (requires attunement) This armor is made with the remains of an ancient mimic. You have a bonus of +1 to your armor class while wearing this armor. When a creature within 5 feet of you attacks you or attempts to grapple you while you're wearing this armor, you can use your reaction to speak its command word to doff your armor and attempt to grapple the target with it (escape DC 15). While the target is grappled by this, it has disadvantage on checks and saving throws to escape the grapple. When the target escapes from the grapple, the armor falls onto the ground. While this armor is doffed and you are within 5 feet of it, you can use a bonus to cause it to move and automatically be donned by you. When you do, any creature the armor is grappling is freed.

Outward Jaws Cloak Wondrous Item, uncommon (requires attunement) This cloak appears to be made out of a velvety material covered with stitched eyes and with edges covered in long teeth. If a creature touches this cloak, they find it is uncannily adhesive and the stitched eyes appear to stare at them. While you are wearing the cloak, whenever your opponent misses you with a melee attack roll, you may use your reaction to have the cloak wrap itself around the weapon in their hand and clamp down with its teeth. The attacker must make a DC 13 Strength saving throw. If the attacker fails, the cloak rips the weapon out of the attacker's grasp and spits it 10 feet away in a random direction; upon success, the cloak automatically releases its bite and returns to you. If the opponent is attacking you with an unarmed strike, you can use your cloak to attempt to grapple the attacker. The attacker must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or become grappled as the cloak leaves your body and “swallows” the creature. The creature may repeat the saving throw at the end of each of their turns, with the cloak slithering back to you upon a success. Mimic Covering Wondrous Item, uncommon (requires attunement) This sticky, leathery book cover bears a single lidless eye and a row of teeth along the edges. This cover can be applied over any book, including a wizard’s spellbook and a warlock’s book of shadows. The attuned creature can close both of their eyes to see out of the eye of the cover, using any of their own special senses for the sight. Any creature that attempts to touch the book against your will must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or take 1d8 piercing damage as the book gnashes at their fingers.

Imitative Shield Armor (shield), uncommon This shield appears almost supernaturally uninteresting, but is secretly a juvenile mimic. When you are hit with a melee weapon attack, you can use your reaction to force the attacker to make a DC 13 Strength saving throw. On a failure, if the attack was made with a melee weapon the weapon is stuck to the shield and requires a DC 13 Strength (Athletics) check to remove, and if the attack was made with a natural weapon or unarmed strike the target is grappled by the shield (escape DC 13). Once this property has been used, it cannot be used again until the shield has been left still over a long rest and has been fed 1 day's worth of rations. Camouflage Armor Armor (any), uncommon (requires attunement) This armor seems to be composed of strangely organic shapes, but appears otherwise unexceptional; in truth, it is a specialized breed of mimic. When you stand perfectly still for 1 minute while wearing this armor, the mimic flows over you to over you completely, hiding you from sight. While in this state, you are indistinguishable from a stone statue, though you are still able to see, hear, and breath as the mimic lends you its own senses. This effect remains until you move. Mimimosa Potion, uncommon or rare The standard mimimosa, an uncommon potion, is a specialty drink that gives you advantage on Strength (Athletics) checks made to initiate or maintain a grapple for 1 minute as your skin starts to exude a mild adhesive. The drink itself is an opaque, sparkling yellow, tastes like strongly acidic citrus, and is typically served in a miniature wooden keg carved with the emblem of an eye. Due to its magical nature, the alcohol within this potion affects a creature twice as much as the alcohol within a nonmagical beverage. The rare variant of the Mimimosa is more noticeably acidic, and has the following additional property: you can attempt to grapple your target whenever you make a melee weapon attack for 1 minute. This variant contains a swirl of natural mimic adhesive.

Stone Oracle’s Rivière Wondrous item, very rare (requires attunement by a spellcaster) This layered necklace is decorated with dark emerald and tan scales, eight cats’ eyes of various sizes along the chain, and at the center, a golden silted eye. When you attune to this ornate necklace, the secrets of the sands are revealed to you. You and those within 10 feet of you leave no footprints behind when you walk in sand and you treat all nonmagical difficult terrain in sand as if it were normal terrain. While in the desert, you always know which way is north and gain advantage on all Wisdom (Survival) checks. The necklace has 9 charges and regains 2d4+1 expended charges each day at dawn. While wearing the necklace, you can expend 1 or more of its charges to cast one of its spells. Each time a charge is expended, one of the cats’ eyes grow clouded, with the center eye the final one. Spells cast using the necklace use your spellcasting ability modifier and spell save DC. - 1 charge. protection from evil and good, comprehend languages - 2 charges. detect thoughts, locate object - 3 charges. spirit guardians, sending - 4 charges. arcane eye, locate creature - 5 charges. legend lore, scry - 7 charges. plane shift Curse. This necklace is cursed, and attuning to it extends that curse to you. This curse can only be removed by a greater restoration or wish spell. While cursed, your hair mats until itself, and after 1d4-1 days, turns into snake hair similar to a medusa’s. They reflect your emotions more easily than your face may, giving you disadvantage on Charisma checks. Other than that, they are (mostly) harmless.

Mimic item: "Return to Sender" - any weapon - When you are hit with a melee weapon attack, the item transforms into a copy of the weapon for a turn

A medusa themed item - perhaps a headdress/ring that makes the wearer "prettier" but can also be used to scare the living daylights out of enemies - and if they fail by more than 5, petrification then starts to happen.

Aegis Armor (shield), legendary (requires attunement) A golden shield with a emerald lined edge and the visage of a peacefully sleeping medusa on its front. While holding this shield, you have a +1 bonus to AC. This bonus is in addition to the shield's normal bonus to AC. When a creature starts its turn within 30 feet of you and can see the front of the shield, that creature must make a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw, unless you are incapacitated. On a failed saving throw, the creature becomes frightened. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to this effect for the next 24 hours. Unless surprised, a creature can avert its eyes to avoid the saving throw at the start of its turn. If the creature does so, it can't see the shield until the start of its next turn, when it can avert its eyes again. If the creature looks at the shield in the meantime, it must immediately make the save. ***Awaken the Medusa.*** As an action, you can awaken the medusa on the shield, causing its eyes to open and its face to contort into a horrifying scowl. For one minute, if a target of the shield's saving throw fails by 5 or more, the creature is instantly petrified. Otherwise, a creature that fails the save begins to turn to stone and is restrained. The restrained creature must repeat the saving throw at the end of its next turn, becoming petrified on a failure or ending the effect on a success. The petrification lasts until the creature is freed by the greater restoration spell or other magic.

Mimic Tea Set! I am completely unsure of the mechanical functions at this time though

Coil Counter Wondrous item, uncommon A wily adventurer commissioned an enchanted bangle to help in his quest to end a devious medusa who was luring local townsfolk into her lair. When you fail a saving throw while wearing this arm band to resist an effect that would paralyze or petrify you, you can use your reaction to instead become stunned until the start of your next turn. During that time, you appear as though you are paralyzed or petrified (depending on the original effect). Once you are no longer stunned, you gain a brief moment to capitalize on your foes. You gain advantage on the next attack you make, provided you do not move or take any other actions before the attack. Once this item has been used, it can't be used again until the next dawn.

I think a series of Mimic-based weapons would be cool
