Workshop Week 35 — What kind of item should we make?
Hey heroes!
Get ready for the next Monday Night Elite Workshop poll!
Please vote on a direction below and comment with a general idea (even something really loose!) of an item you have that would fit the direction you voted for! There will be a second poll tomorrow featuring up to three of your commented suggestions using the winning direction from the poll today.
There won't be a stream for this item tomorrow night! It's Dani's birthday tomorrow, and I want to be able to spend the day with her. The item will still be made and posted for an early viewing on Wednesday morning, though! Thanks, heroes!
Remember that this will be an official Saddlebag item and will not credit anyone for the ideas generated through this process. Please only bring ideas you're comfortable with sharing to the workshop!
Let's make something exciting together!

Sandsailor’s Fishing Tackle Wondrous Item, common This tan and green fishing rod and hook has a top decorated to look like a bulette, the infamous “land shark”, complete with red eyes on the end and rounded spikes along the length of the rod. It has an enchanted reel that can be twisted to regulate the amount of magic coming from this rod. You can cast this fishing line out onto solid ground between 60 and 120 feet away, and just before hitting the ground you can twist the reel to have the hook and anything attached be put through a tiny portal that goes out somewhere randomly into a sea or ocean of your choice. You fish as normal, reeling anything you catch through the land. When you have pulled the hook to within 5 feet of you, you can firmly twist the reel one more time to cause the portal to open wide enough briefly to let anything you have reeled in pass through to your location. If you let go of the rod or it is ripped out of your hands, the portal closes and severs the line. Bulette Torpedo Javelin, very rare This javelin is made from bulette hide, with grey spikes lining the length and a tip decorated with glowing rubellites that appear as red eyes. Immediately after you throw this javelin and it hits a target within 120 feet of you, the javelin burrows into the ground if able and makes its way to your location, jumping out of the ground and back into your hand at the end of your turn. You have +2 to attack and damage rolls with this javelin. As an attack, you may focus on a target that is on the ground and throw the javelin into the earth. When you do, it burrows through the ground to the target and leaps out with tremendous force. If the attack hits, the target must succeed on a DC 16 Strength or Dexterity saving throw (target’s choice) or be knocked prone and take an additional 3d6 bludgeoning and 3d6 slashing damage. Once this property has been used, it can’t be used again until you finish a short or long rest.
Similar to what Julien said, I'm imagining something like a whip that can extend further than normal, like maybe 20 or so. You attack with it, auto-grappling on a hit, and then every turn thereafter that they remain grappled they take acid damage.
Black Residue Wondrous item, Rare The preserved, sticky remnants of a slain pudding. You can use this residue as a material component for a spell that deals acid damage. If you do, the residue is consumed, and any nonmagical armor worn by the targets of the spell is partly dissolved and takes a permanent and cumulative -1 penalty to the AC it offers. The armor is destroyed if the penalty reduces its AC to 10. Essence of Basilisk Wondrous item, very rare A vile filled with a sickly blue oil made boiled hearts of several basilisks. You can use this oil as a material component for the flesh to stone spell. If you do, the oil is consumed, and the target has disadvantage on their saving throws made to resist the spell's effect. Bulette Carapace Wondrous item, uncommon A piece of carapace ripped from the corpse of a bulette and etched with a rune of protection. You can use this carapace piece as a material component for the mage armor spell. If you do, the AC bonus provided by spell increases by +2.
I've always fancied a whip or flail made from an ooze. Essentially, you a hilt/handle that magically produces a pseudopod from a black pudding, and you make an attack with it. The damage of the impact isn't the bad part, but the acid damage it deals.
If bulette wins I'm hoping for armor that gives a burrow speed and maybe one of its' leap abilities or something along those lines
Silver Pudding Vest Armor (padded), very rare The silver pudding is like the albino of black puddings, and its extreme rarity has cause some to question if it is a natural ooze, or an arcane monstrosity. This armor was crafted from one such creature, its shiny amorphous form looking like ever-flowing mercury. You have a +1 bonus to AC while wearing this armor. In addition, each creature that hits you with a melee attack takes 1d8 acid damage. Split. As an action, you can cause the the armor to form into a silver pudding (using the Black Pudding statistics). This pudding follows your mental commands and acts on its own initiative. If the pudding is reduced to 0 hit points, it cannot reform into the armor and its magic is lost forever. You can don the pudding as ordinary light armor.
Maybe like a sword with a basilisk eye in the hilt and you use it to cause a temporary petrification
That actually already exists! That's the Basilisk Dagger, to a T!
if Basilisk wins, How bout a basilisk mask that grants a form of it's stone gaze?
