Workshop Week 23 — What kind of item should we make?

Hey heroes!

Get ready for the next Monday Night Elite Workshop poll! Please vote on a direction below and comment with a general idea of an item you have that would fit the direction you voted for!  There will be a second poll tomorrow featuring up to three of your commented suggestions using the winning direction from the poll today.

I'll be going live tomorrow night, December 16th at 7:30 pm EST (GMT-5). You'll receive an email tomorrow evening with the exclusive Youtube link for you to come watch and participate! We'll figure out the exact mechanics together on stream before (and possibly while) I make the illustration for the most voted on item!

Remember that this will be an official Saddlebag item and will not credit anyone for the ideas generated through this process. Please only bring ideas you're comfortable with sharing to the workshop!

Let's make something exciting together! See you tomorrow!

(Formatting sucks cuz i’m on Mobile) Rubek’s Cube of Chaos - While a Wild Magic Sorceror is attuned to this cube, their magic may go wild on a 1 or 2, instead of just a 1 when rolling for Wild Magic Surges. Whenever your spells might go wild, this 54 sided colorful cube shifts and shakes, allowing you to use your bonus action to store the wild effect for later use. The Cube May store only one Wild Magic effect at a time. You do not know what the wild effect might be, but you may use a bonus action to set it loose at any point of your choosing. You may also, as part of the same bonus action to store a wild magic effect, release a wild magic effect already contained by the cube, effectively swapping them. Casting an Identify spell on the cube while it holds a wild magic charge will tell you what the wild magic surge may be, and a Detect Magic spell will reveal the type of magic stored, however the cube itself gives off strong auras of Transfiguration and Abjuration. This cube counts as a spellcasting focus so long as you are attuned to it, and has 3 charges, which recharge each day at dawn. You may use a bonus action on your turn to expend a charge to cast Color Spray from the cube, or you may expend all 3 charges to cast Chromatic Orb at 3rd level, with its energy type randomized by dice roll. If the Sorceror attuned to this cube is not a Wild Magic Sorceror, the cube’s magic may cause their magic to go Wild, even if it normally wouldn’t. Use standard Wild Magic rules for this feature, surging on a 1. The cube’s Wild Magic storing feature cannot be used if the Attuned Sorceror is not a Wild Magic Sorceror, however. This cube may already house a wild magic surge inside when obtained by the party, to the discretion of the dm.

Cool item! I actually can't refer to wild magic sorcerers because they're not in the SRD, the System Reference Document.

Cloak of the Ironheart Requires attunement by a Sorcerer While wearing this cloak, the force of will you use to cast your spells overflow into the cape, giving the cloak a subtle glow, enveloping you in a light protective aura. You have advantage on saving throws from spells from the school of enchantment. Whenever you fail an ability check, an attack roll, or a saving throw, you can use your reaction exert your ironheart's willpower to expend 2 sorcery points to reroll, using Charisma as the ability, even if the original roll uses a different ability. You must keep the new roll. Whenever you succeed on an ability check, attack roll, or saving throw in this way, or against a spell from the school of enchantment, the cloak glows a bit stronger billows dramatically.

I like this! I think it'd be suited to a lot of other characters beyond sorcerers, though. I'll make this another time for a broader range.

Spelltaker's Locket Requires attunement by a Sorcerer While wearing this locket, you know the Counterspell spell, and you can expend 3 or more sorcery points to cast it instead of using a spell slot. The spell is cast at the level equal to the number of sorcery points spent. When you successfully disrupt a spell of fifth-level or lower with counterspell, you can store the spell in the locket by expending a spell slot or another number of sorcery points equal to the spell's level. The taken spell remains in the locket until you store a different spell in it, and you can cast it as if it was a sorcerer spell you know, even if it is not on the sorcerer spell list. The locket can only store one spell at a time.

Pendant of the Practiced Caster Very Rare, requires attunment (by a spellcaster) This pendant allows you to concentrate on one additional spell up to a level lower than your highest spell slot. The concentration remains for a number of rounds equal to your Spellcasting Ability Modifier. While concentrating on a spell using this item you may choose to replace the spell with another one you have cast in a chain-like manner, the spell you cast "pushes" the original one out as you concentrate on the new one regularly and the old one through the pendant. You roll with disadvantage for concentration checks on spells within the pendant.

Meta medallion - use sorc points to replace a meta magic option.

Some item that can use Sorc Points rather than just altering spells. Spend SP to learn a new spell temporarily for the day?

Glass Cannon (consumable) - a small trinket that can be shattered. The crystal dust amplifies your next attack, maximising the damage while also giving you vulnerability to the next attack that hits you.
