Workshop Week 01 — What kind of item should we make?
Hey Heroes!
Get ready for the first Wednesday Night Elite Workshop poll! I'll be going live tomorrow night, July 3rd, at 7:30 pm EDT (GMT-4). You'll receive an email tomorrow evening with the exclusive Youtube link for you to come watch and participate!
Please vote on a direction below and comment with a general idea of an item you have that would fit the direction you voted for! There will be a second poll tomorrow featuring up to three of your commented suggestions using the winning direction from the poll today.
We'll figure out the exact mechanics together on stream before (and possibly while) I make the illustration for the most voted on item!
Remember that this will be an official Saddlebag item and will not credit anyone for the ideas generated through this process. Please only bring ideas you're comfortable with sharing to the workshop!

Hmm, what about a magical oar or paddle that can grant boats and ships a speed boost or the ability to move freely in rough waters, and can function as a magical glaive in combat? I rather like the idea of a player beating a dragon senseless with a paddle. A water spell thrown into the mix could also make things interesting, like a Control Water, or even Water Breathing, for when things get really bad.
A shipwright's hammer. It can conjure the other components of a carpenter's tools, reduces by half the time needed to build and repair ships, and has advantage on checks regarding ships. The hammer can also magically resize itself to a light hammer, warhammer, or maul.
Some kind of nobility circlet, worn by the most powerful noble in the land. King, Duchess, Tzar, Sheik, or whomever. It conveys Wisdom (Insight and Perception) as well as Charisma (Persuasion and Deception). Minor bonuses to saving throws. Maybe Truesight. Nothing is hidden before the King. I feel like it would have charges to do certain things. Suggestion and Charm Person are obvious, but maybe also some things like Dispel Magic or the Truesight comes from a charge. I don't know. Could be Very Rare, or heck, make it a legendary Crown of Rulership.
Or perhaps a magical version of a daisy pin that spits water at you but instead it's acid or poison or has some other effect possibly like the suggestion spell or some other charm effect
Possibly something to do with Dragon Turtles or Sea Hags. Something to do with charming them or another way of placating them to allow your escape
Something coral-themed. Perhaps a chunk of coral that, when thrown to the ground, erupts into a Wall of Coral (stone)?
Or perhaps a small floating island 15 feet in radius
A magical component for forging weapons or something from, give PCs some cool use for smith's tools or other kits.
Something evil - something that let's you nudge people towards committing evil acts. Like getting a beggar to steal from a merchant, or a lovestruck guard to get in a fight with his romantic rival, etc
A magic fishing rod that doubles as a grappling hook, used to pull shit to you or you to shit, with a ribbon effect that gives a bonus to survival checks used to gather food near any water source that contains fish. Or something like that.
Imo, there aren't enough magical Tools. I'd like to see a set of tools (cobbler's, leatherworker's, smith's, jeweler's, tinker's, navigator's, etc...) that do more than just add proficiency or bonus.
Going off of this, why not a cursed set of tools? allow enhanced crafting but come with an obsession?
I'm thinking something boat related, the current go-to item is the folding boat and I honestly would love to seem a magical ship that shares attunement with the crew.
Ship in a bottle?
A slave bracelet or glove that lets you cast water related spells (like watery sphere or tidal wave) with charges stored in it. It appears to be made from living coral and algae.
