Harp of Valor

Thank you to Critical Role for using this item! As a result, I've updated the art and card files to bring the item up to date for anyone new that finds their way here. I've also included the classic, bard-only option of the item, as well as a class agnostic one for your enjoyment. Have fun, and keep on adventuring!

Weapon (shortbow), very rare (requires attunement by a bard)

This bow has ten strings and doubles as a lyre or small harp; you're proficient with the instrument while you're attuned to it. You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. In addition, arrows fired from the bow deal thunder damage instead of piercing damage. Whenever you make a Charisma (Performance) check using the bow as an instrument, you make the check with advantage.

The bow has 10 charges and regains 1d6 + 4 expended charges daily at dawn. While holding the bow, you can use an action to expend up to 5 of its charges to cast either the thunderwave or magic missile spell from it, using your spell save DC. For 1 charge, you cast the 1st-level version of the spell. You can increase the spell slot level by one for each additional charge you expend.

Ballads are written for the victorious. I'll be the one left standing to write them.

The bard in my Curse of Strahd game gained the original harp of valor, and we decided that spells cast from it manifested as bats (a la Nevan from DMC3) in Barovia. It was an iconic piece and the player's favorite weapon to date :)

I *love* that. Thank you so much for sharing!
