Potion of Awakening

Potion, rare

A beast that drinks this potion or a plant that's watered with it is affected by the awaken spell, provided it is Huge or smaller and has either no Intelligence score or an Intelligence of 3 or less. It takes 1 minute for the potion's magic to take effect, and the awakened creature gains the ability to speak and understand Common.

The awakened creature isn't charmed by you as part of this effect: it immediately chooses how to behave around you based on your previous interactions and any other behavior it's witnessed from you and your companions. A creature with a minimal amount of interaction may (reasonably) choose to immediately flee, especially if its previous instincts would suggest it.

“D’aw, Mr. Mittens! You sure do like that brain juice.”
“I will not be patronized. If it weren’t for my lack of thumbs, we would have parted company long before now. Now feed me, and tell me how handsome I am again.”
