Covolt Ring

This ring is made with covolt, an elemental blue metal that carries stormlike properties. If you take lightning damage while wearing the ring, you can use your reaction to halve that damage. When you do, each creature within 5 feet of you (excluding yourself) must immediately succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or take lightning damage equal to the amount you reduced.

While wearing the ring, you can use an action to create an electrical field around you. The field remains for 1 minute, until you end the effect (no action required), or until you're no longer wearing the ring. A creature takes 1d8 lightning damage from the field if it ends its turn within 5 feet of you or if it hits you with a melee attack while within that range. Once you create the field, this property can't be used again until the next dawn.

Her motions were quick as lightning. Her power could be felt in your chest like thunder.

The lightning came to her palm with a flex of her ringed hand. She tamed it, without wincing, and unleashed it against her assailants.

With a clap, she drew a force from herself that couldn't be explained. It was like a storm had leapt from her very being to come to her defense.

Of course I loved her. But you can't expect a hurricane to know how to love you back.
