Blood Pact Bayonet

Weapon (dagger), rare (requires attunement)

You must bleed onto the dagger as part of attuning to it. When you hit a creature with this weapon, it takes an extra 1d4 necrotic damage from the attack. You then regain a number of hit points equal to the extra necrotic damage dealt; if you have more than half your hit points remaining, you instead gain temporary hit points equal to the extra necrotic damage. You don't gain hit points or temporary hit points in this way if the target is a construct, ooze, plant, or undead.

Affix Bayonet. While holding the dagger, you can use a bonus action to affix it to either a heavy crossbow, pistol, or musket you're also holding. It takes an action to remove the dagger again. While the dagger is affixed to another weapon in this way, you can make a melee attack with the dagger while holding the other weapon. In addition, your attacks with the other weapon deal an extra 1d4 necrotic damage to any creature you hit with it, as if the attack were made by the dagger.

Curse. This weapon is cursed, and becoming attuned to it extends the curse to you. As long as you remain cursed, your hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to your level.

The militia was trained to be ruthless. Deadly. Bloodthirsty.
Their thirst was one that could not be quenched.

Really like the flexibility with this one, the way it can be used to effectively upgrade other weapons is great 馃憤馃憤

Just to clarify, you don't get the healing/temp HP effect when affixing it and just shooting something, right? That's only for use in melee?

You DO get the healing and temp HP when using the ranged attack option with an affixed-to weapon!
