Conch of Water Communion

Although all conch shells can sound like the ocean, this one lets you actually hear what it's saying. While touching a body of water of at least 250 gallons, you can use an action to hold the shell to your ear and ask the water a question that can be answered with either "yes" or "no". The water will answer the question to the best of its understanding, such as "has another creature stopped to drink from you today?" or "is there something buried in the sand beneath you?" The response may sound different based on what's in the water—for instance, a blessed well of water may sound priestly, and a poisoned one may sound sick.

Once used, this property of the shell shouldn't be used again until the next dawn. Each time it’s used again before then, the shell has a 20% chance of cracking in half and becoming nonmagical.
