Sword of Damocles

Sword of Damocles
Weapon (longsword), legendary (requires attunement by a creature of lawful alignment)

This regal sword's guard and handle are designed in the likeness of a judge's scale. You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon, and you can't be frightened while holding it. The sword has 8 charges, and it regains 1d6 + 2 expended charges daily at dawn.

Burden of Damocles. While holding the sword, you can use a bonus action to expend 1 of its charges to curse a creature that you can see within 60 feet of you. A creature cursed in this way sees a phantasmal copy of the sword of Damocles floating in the air, just above its head; the sword is invisible, except to you and the cursed creature. As part of the curse, choose one of the following triggering conditions: the target deals damage to another creature, it forces a creature to make a saving throw, it tells a deliberate lie, or it knowingly breaks a law (GM's discretion). The creature knows what the triggering condition is. When the condition is met, the phantasmal sword becomes visible and drops, forcing the creature to make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw. The creature takes 4d10 + 3 force damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The curse ends after 24 hours have passed or when its triggering condition is met, at which point you magically learn the outcome. If you use this property of the sword to curse a creature already cursed in this way, you can choose to either replace the previous curse with a new one or increase the damage dealt by the curse by 2d10, up to a maximum of 8d10 + 3 force damage.

"Heavy is the head that bears the crown. But not so heavy as the head that awaits the blade."

Hey folks! I started recording my paintings (in an AI-filled world where people think I'm a robot). Let me know if you like seeing them in the Patreon posts, or if they simply take up so much space that it makes scrolling to the attachments frustrating. No wrong answers!

Dude, the video idea is awesome! It's cool to see your process, both artistry and hearing insights into how and why an item was inspired. Definitely would watch more!

I love the video!!! Not only do I love seeing different artist's methods (as a budding artist myself I learn a lot through watching techniques in action), but I also love that you gave a little tidbit into the inspirations and concept development process! Very cool, it's great to hear how you develop an idea or where you gain inspiration from 馃挏
