Server Purge Concluded
Hello everyone,
I'd like to announce that the server purge have been concluded today. It was accelerated from the scheduled date of April due to the on-going escalation of spicy events within the greater Starsector Community. The server will be returning back to its old-but-proven method of entry which is members-only-invite or ask-on-stream ( rarely ).
That means the server will be open again soon but you can't pay your way in anymore because that cash filter method doesn't work. It's obvious that the malicious group or people are willing to spend a bit more just to get in and blend with the innocent masses.
Once again, I'd like to formally apologize for the inconvenience. I'm only doing this to protect myself, my friends and the small community that we formed over the year. If you're affected by this purge, please know that its nothing personal.

Would it be possible to get an invite to the server? :)
If the events referred to are the ones I've heard about, this feels like the usual over-reaction, if this was stuff going on in the discord in some of the blocked off channels, then I have no clue. However, this does nonetheless still feel like a kick in the shin for something I wasn't even aware of till getting booted from the discord. By the same token, we do not 'deserve' access to the mods discord or to have any input, etc... It's their mod, discord, etc... We are here to support the mod, this was just a bonus granted. So while not pleased, I do understand and I'll still support as long as we keep getting this amazing work. We were all told the discord would be removed too, and while given a timeline, I did read it as 'we wont be allowing new applicants' not removing it whole cloth, so part of my frustration was on my own end. I wish CY and the team well and hope that it returns sooner rather then later and we can just go back to appreciating the mod and its friends.
Just a quick question but when the server opens back up again in the future, is it only going to be invite only through other members like a referral or will there be times when you'll open the server invites for the patrons and then close it once a certain amount time has passed?
Yep, if god wills it - I will offer a way to re-enter the server but only after enough time have passed.

Truth be told , the decision initially raised an eyebrow with me. That comes down to me favoring open source and open communities - but i recognize that the amount of moderation this needs is not something everyone can or want to invest. Part of my irritation came from thinking the Starsector community was easy to moderate, but oh boy. After the kerfuffle I've witnessed over the last few days, I've become much more understanding of the decision of keeping the server invite-only.
Maybe when the storm is over, I can consider reopening the server again. Until then, I'd rather not expose the newcomers and my community to the toxic atmosphere outside. My team and I have a different method of moderation, we wouldn't act unless we have to. We prefer to just enjoy our time together and play games with friends and fans in the server. Most of the time, its been rather peaceful and tolerable until now. Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience.
Totally understandable why what had to be done had to be done, just hope you keep up the awesome work on the mod and share your art once in awhile like you have been with us keep up the good work CY.
I know I just lurked but does this mean we wont be able to test any of the smaller patches as well?
I'll consider releasing test patches as separate from the main branch when it comes to that.
That explains why I don't see the server :(
Thanks for the update I was super confused, but its understandable. I almost never talk in the discord and usually just like to lurk. I hope I can get invited back some day
