Home Movies - Part 23 - Preview
It was Ann's idea for the four of them to take an evening off from their grueling filming schedule and have a little family outing instead. Nothing outrageous, nothing extravagant...just Mrs Possible taking the three out to dinner and maybe a movie afterwards. When she sees her own adult flesh and blood, tired and haggard-looking after days and weeks of exhaustive filming, arguing and bickering over the simplest of things, it's not as if she can treat them like children anymore. For as much as she'd like to put a couple of thirty-somethings in time-out or send them to bed without supper...yeah, no...it just doesn't work that way anymore.
Aside from filming, the matriarch of the Possible family still has to make the bacon as it were. Sitting at her desk in Middleton hospital, Ann tries to ignore the ticking clock on the wall as she stares out the window. Auto-transcribing a few notes from a recent surgery to kill the last couple of minutes, Ann swaps her lab coat for something more casual before heading towards the door.
Just as she reaches out to grab the door handle...
Nurse: (over the hospital PA system) Dr Possible to O.R. one! Dr Possible to O.R. one, STAT!
Ann: (thinking) Great. Just great.
Kim and Tim are running late. Having had to drive all the way to Lowerton that afternoon for a fan meet-up, Tim puts the pedal to the metal. It's not very often that Kim lets anyone drive the Sloth, but after an all-nighter of handsy frat boys at Club 33, maybe three hours of sleep, and then a full day of handsy fan boys (and girls), she's all-too happy to let someone else chauffeur her around.
Kim: Whose idea was it to do a meet-up in sleezy-ass Lowerton anyway? Upperton, sure...whole different scene up there...but, Lowerton? At a comic book shop?
Tim: Uhh, take a wild guess.
Kim: (sighs) Note to self: Don't let Jim book anymore events.
Tim: Yeah... Promising them "pom-poms and pigtails" was...
Kim: ...a murder-worthy offense. Speaking of whom, why wasn't Mr 'Not Long for this World' along for this one?
Tim: Heh! Ehhh... He's been at home interviewing a bunch of new talent today. That body-double we've been wanting to get... Maybe another fluffer.
Kim: Oh, great. He gets laid all day while I get nerd-gasm'd in a strip mall. How nice of him. Urgh. Do we, like, have time to run home for a couple...? Soooo wanna wash all the Poindexter off me before we go out tonight.
How subtly can I put this? See Kim get it in the end at the $5 tier level. :D
