Mod List Update Overview, Future Plans, and Possible Upcoming Rule Change
Hi there everyone! I hope you’re all doing well!
So, as you’ve already noticed ALL Mod List Editions now include the ability to select your mods!
Improvements from the old Mod List Checker system ↓
• All links to the mods are now included right in your list.
• Easier to navigate/search.
• No more importing CSVs each and every time you needed up-to-date data.
• No more confusing setup.
I released a Mod List Guide Doc a few days ago to help you with this new mod list. I still have a lot more information to add to it, but hopefully it’s enough to get everyone started.
Patron Information
First, I want to say that I seriously appreciate all of my supporters. You’re all amazing, this list would not be where it is today without you! ♥♥
How the new Mod List affects certain benefits (e.g., Mod List Changelogs)
This new mod list pretty much makes both the Emerald and Ruby Mod List Changelogs obsolete (as it did to the old Mod List Checker). You can use the filters and sorting options to view the same information with less effort.
So, it’s a bittersweet farewell, but the Mod List Changelogs will be removed by the end of the week.
Don’t worry, I’ll replace this benefit with another one soon. I have a few ideas, but I want to see if I can implement them before making promises.
How it affects Pink Diamond tier members
Honestly, I would like to remove this tier completely (or at least rework it) since everyone can have a personalized mod list now and that was the main tier benefit. However, pretty much all of my Pink Diamonds have been with me since the tier opened. Therefore, if you’re a current Pink Diamond member and would like to continue using your google sheet, you’re more than welcome to (even if you change tiers).
Your personalized google sheet will always be yours until you tell me you no longer need it.
However, the tier is currently closed to new members.
Current & Future Plans
Currently Working On (Besides updating the mod list of course)
Scarlet’s Realm is getting a long overdue spring cleaning! This includes cleaning up all pages (and some old posts) to making everything easier to read, understand, and navigate.
Additionally I want to get all possible information about the mod list (Excluded Creators, Rules, Guides, etc) into the Mod List Guide doc so everything is easily accessed in one place (instead of page to page on the Realm).
I suppose I should update my To-Do list now as well so I don’t forget anything I mention here! lol.
Future Plans (Future as in within the next couple weeks)
Patron benefits to replace the obsolete changelogs. As mentioned earlier I have a few ideas, but I need to make sure they’re doable.
As mentioned several times, I want to add a mod folder scanner option (or at least an easier way to get your mods checked for your mod lists).
Improve the report forms.
Many other things that I know I’m forgetting lol.
Stay tuned!
Possible Upcoming Rule Change
I’m strongly considering revising this rule:
Locking/Permanent paywalling one (or more) of their mods – If a creator has any mod that is only accessible by paying for it, then that creator will not be tracked. This includes requiring an account (locking) in order to download the mod. I need to be able to access all downloads for the mods that I add to the list. I will not create an account for ONE creator to do that.
I’d like to start tracking even if the creator has permanently locked content. However, their permanently locked mods will still be excluded. Only their public content will be tracked.
This potential change will NOT affect this rule ↓
Re-locking already released mods for new updates. This practice makes tracking in the mod list impossible. Early access updates for already released mods are fine as long as there’s still a public version available and maintained.
Any creators that do that will still be excluded.
I will also not track a creator if any of their permanently locked content isn’t originally theirs (e.g., updating someone else’s mod and locking that update behind a permanent paywall).
What do you guys think? I will be able to track a few more creators again, which I’d love because I really hate not having all modders in my collection (I’m a completionist lol).
Special Thanks ♥
There’s a few people that deserve a special shout out for all of their help and contributions to the Mod List ↓
meg & Amethyst-Lilac for all of mods they’ve submitted (literally hundreds) and testing they’ve done! You’re both amazing, thank you so much for all you do!
Finwickle for finding all of bienchen’s Curseforge links (over 350 of them)!! Thank you so much, the list looks a lot better without all those N/A statuses!
Happy Simming,
Scarlet
