Mega64 Record Club Ep. 40 - Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (#112)

This album is amazing! Definitely one of my favorite episodes due to Dick and just the chemistry of him and Shawn. Always an enjoyment!

Dick is such a compelling guy to listen to, great guest. Also it’s very sweet when you can hear shared speech patterns/inflections that he and Rocco share. Great episode, Dick’s explanation of how they had to mail in for tickets back in the day was fun

Never listened to an Elton John record before and this one blew me away. This album whips ass. Glad to hear from Dick, again!

Welcome back, Dick Botte! It’s a pre-Christmas Cast Miracle! For me, this is the best RS500 album so far. We’ve had a great run lately and this just checked all the boxes! (Pretty much the entire album made my Record Club Recap playlist.) I loved the little prog dabbling in the title track, the cheeky humor in Dirty Little Girl, the danger in All the Girls Love Alice and the incredible singles, too! This did not feel like a double album at all. Excellent sequencing, no songs over-stayed. That said, next week’s album is a shorty in comparison and it RULES. The B52s are so kitschy and wild and funny. I remember Rock Lobster being a little divisive but I promise they’re good! (Also they, like REM, are from Georgia so kind of thematic!) Question for the Record Clubbers: what are some of your favorite holiday songs or albums?

Spoiling us with another Dick Botte episode. It's so funny hearing where Rocco gets a lot of his mannerisms from lmao. But yeah obviously this is such a great album. Really enjoyed digging into it this week. 4/5 for me. Favorite Elton song will prob always be Benny and the Jets but I really liked Social Disease a lot this time round.

oh snap another Dick Botte episode!! I'm at work but I cannot wait to get home and watch this

Another Dick episode and it’s an hour long?!? Oh hell yeah! I’m gettin cozy with my dog and some snacks for this one! 🤘

It's our Dick! What a welcome surprise,
