Mega64 Movie Club: Kiki's Delivery Service
Well I promise you that we will be talking about things and people that you will not expect in this episode, but we will work it back to this 1989 anime classic, I promise you.

loved this one, you two should see Porco Rosso... the most slept-on ghibli movie and the casablanca of animation hands down
Why has movieclub no rss feed? I guess there would be still missing episodes now and then because someone forgets to mark them for rss but still.
You should see The Drama before that ends up being second wave territory you mentioned last episode
Absolutely loved this pick and conversation - would definitely love some more Ghibli reviews
same!!
famous children’s movie Grave of the Fireflies
Gibbly.
I really want Shawn to watch Totoro. It’s really about watching little kids grow and I think it’ll get to him.
Mickey 17 I walked out of the part where they were popping zits or w.e.
I definitely support watching Princess Mononoke. Ended up being my favorite with the world building that involves the spirits and gods and how thr humans have to live with their existence, as well with the more older audience theming.
That og english dub was like that with Gigi, but it’s been restored to how it should be now, I believe. Same voice actors intact.
I really appreciate how open you both are on these episodes. It’s way more interesting to hear how films intersect with people’s lives instead of some kind of “objective” review.
We finally found out who the cat was.
Awoooogaaaaa
to rocco's point bout childhood feeling/memories making you cry. I cry everytime i watch The Grinch with Jim Carry when Cindy LuWho sings where are you Christmas and the classroom flashback cuz i struggled with bullying and "what is Christmas?" as a child. I also cry during the winne the pooh halloween special when Piglet sings bout not being brave enough as thats something ive also struggled with since childhood.
Great vibes in this one
LOOOOL this one might be the least they had to say about the movie ever
I don't know where you're coming from here considering they're both clearly unpacking a lot of the movie's central themes on creative burnout and putting your childhood away as you mature. Sometimes there's more to discussing a film than just going through the plot beat for beat.
oh helllll yeah. love this movie sm. I didn't watch it until later in life, but immediately it was up there with Totoro as one of my fav Ghibili movies. which is saying something since that is the one I grew up with and am incapable of judging objectively.
I am with Rocco on this one. Also threw it on and was unexpectedly blown away by the movie. Coming of Age stories always get me. And good ones like this make me take a step back and look at my life choices lol
