Mega64 Movie Club: Plur1bus
Rocco and Shawn watched AppleTV's newest show Plur1bus! What the hell is going on in this show, who is Carol?! And why is everyone so happy about all this? Let's figure all this out.

Why haven't they done part 2 yet
7 episodes in and it continues to tread water episode after episode
Please please please do a review on Angel's Egg!!!
Guess what
The show has to pick up the pace
I 2nd Angels egg
Silo is an awesome Apple + show and like "foundation" it's based on beloved sci-fi books
I love this show so much. Perfect conversation piece to A.I right now
I also have a theory that its going to revisit all of the survivors towards the end of the season and they are all going to be miserable/depressed/crazy.
Sean giving the lowest energy vibe ever at the start.
People in the Youtube comments are mentioning this but I figure I'll bring it up here - Shawn's right about the planes. In the bar in episode 1, they're reporting that an airbase was infiltrated, and then jets spread the virus throughout the atmosphere. It seems to be airborne, but passes more easily through contact and body fluids. It's meant to play off conspiracy theories about chemtrails, and I think the lab outbreak is meant to evoke imagery about the spread of Covid.
I kinda feel carol being mean and awful towards the hive minded people is similar to people who are aggressively against ai. Like you have people embrace ai and this hivemind with like little to no concern for the implications for others and how its forced upon everyone etc. then you have people like carol who wont budge or even consider some of the benefits of ai in certain aspects. Like not defending genAI or anything but there has been some use in ai that works better for mundane routine things that arent generative. I think carol symbolizes that aspect like you get her frustration but you also see how narrow sighted it is in some specific cases. Like both sides are just the extremes of the debate.
Could Bugonia be added to the movie club collection playlist? :)
I get where Rocco is coming from in regards to one thing happening an episode. I’ll say that the first episode answered a bunch of questions that could have been dragged out over a whole season when Carol spoke to the guy on the TV, so it’s going both ways.
Loved the review. On the "one thing happened this episode" thing trending on modern TV, I will say that, the more distance we have from Breaking Bad, I think it's easy to forget how slower paced and patient that show was too. Sure there was the train heist episode, but we also have a whole portion of a season dedicated to whether they buy a car wash or not. Can't believe Derrick got Pluribus'd.
I agree! All Vince Gilligan's shows have that deliberate pacing with special attention to methods and processes.
Hell yes
Please talk about Angel's Egg Rocco. I saw it on Wednesday and really liked it.
Episode 4 dropped a bombshell for Carol's backstory, hope you guys give some end of season thoughts here or on a pod
