Mega64 Club: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
It’s the movie we both dreaded. Rocco suffered through The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 25 years ago and swore never again. Shawn didn’t even want to give it a first chance. But now, they’ve both done it. Were they horrified… or did they actually like this?

I respect Rocco's opinion on the second movie, I like the first movie. Respect what it's done and it's a a touchstone for sure but there's not much to it. I find the second one actually has more of a story and more to it. Plus it has Dennis Hopper in it and he can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned. Especially when you have a chainsaw sword fight as your climax. What's more badass than that? 😊
If you guys haven't watched Evil Dead 1/2/3, that really should be your next choice! Those are without a doubt the most fun you can have watching horror movies, and I think you both would have a ton to say about the series
Scream was the first horror film I remember genuinely liking, when I was younger and most of them seemed too intimidating to me lol. Am excited for next episode!!! On the topic of horror films I saw a screening of The Descent recently and thought the sets and camerawork were really cool
Can Barbarian and Her be added to the movie club collections playlist? I like using that to quickly jump around and listen to different episodes
Done, thanks for the heads up
you should watch Jacob's Ladder
Since you both covered different sub-genres of horror like Weapons (Thriller/Mystery), Chainsaw Massacre (Slasher), and soon Scream (Pop Culture/Mystery); it would be fun to see your opinion on a social anxiety horror movie like (All My Friends Hate Me, the original Speak No Evil, or Beau is Afraid).
Completely understandable you guys don’t like slashers, but given that im surprised you guys don’t watch more non-slasher horror. That’s the stuff that sticks with me, especially when campy. Some suggestions: The Thing; Evil Dead 2; IT; It Follows; An American Werewolf in London; Teen Wolf
Last X movie I think was XXX with Vin Diesel
So glad to hear someone mention Witches, I still have memories of seeing that and having basically a panic attack as a kid
Definitely not alone in preferring Part 2 over the original, like Halloween 3 it’s become a fan favorite. Also I highly recommend watching the Japanese film One Cut of the Dead for another horror movie, just go in knowing as little as possible.
One of my favorite movies but not at all surprised by your opinions. Supremely unpleasant by design. For all the pioneering reasons Rocco mentioned I love it, but not only that — it still gets under my skin and truly creeps me out deeply. You just know guys like this are out there somewhere. The catharsis of the girl riding away in the back of the truck, screaming gradually turning into laughing, after putting you through literal hell for 80 minutes — that’s what only a movie could do. Some other movies that might be worth a look before October is up (don’t think any of these would be as despised): Evil Dead 2, Suspiria (old one), Cure (Japanese movie)
You completely nailed my feelings on the film. This film is so uncomfortable (by design) and sticks with you forever.
Please watch An American Werewolf in London. It won the first Oscar for makeup and I genuinely think the whole crew would enjoy it. I love Movie Club, keep em coming.
Love this suggestion! Great movie.
Fellow Witches trauma experiencers… The fuck were they thinking with that scene? I watched it again recently and I was still scared.
The actual cemetery used for the opening shot is down the street from me across the street from a Cheba Hut. I don't think anyone here actually knows that for such an iconic and formative movie
