Mega64 Movie Club: Big Trouble in Little China

I love this movie but every time I've watched it it's been with friends, drinking beers and laughing at the goofy scenes. Possibly you guys just approached it in the wrong headspace/setting

This would have been a great one to have Garrett on for. Unfortunate that he was too busy fixing cars :(

John Carpenter has made some of my all time favorites, saw this one in high school, didn't like it then and I don't like it now. It felt like it had all of the ingredients to be a banger, but the end product is simultaneously outlandish and uninteresting.

This is a movie club I had to turn off. Sorry, but calling a whimsical satirical 80s action film that's insanely fun to watch 'homework' while praising some of the Oscar slop that y'all have is just a terrible take imo.

I support anytime you want to add Garrett to a movie club episode

Probably the worst movie ever made. Ever.

I'd love to see a They Live movie club!

as a kid i remember just liking the magic and powers of the dudes, like the lightning guy was so cool to me and bro as a kid lol. We always into that

Don't feel too bad guys. I didn't love this film either.

A big reason I love this movie is because of how useless and lost our main character the whole time. I dont remember if it was Spoony or Rich Evans but one of them had said it's a movie where you follow the side kick as the main character. Wang Chi really is the main character of this story, after they pointed that out to me it went up a few notches for me.

I feel exactly like you guys do. When I heard movie club was returning and it was Big Trouble in Little China I KNEW it would go like this. It’s just not great. John Carpenter is an unconventional director and I think it can bite him in the ass sometimes (I actually feel this film and THEY LIVE have some of the same problems but Rocco seems to like that one). The Thing is absolutely a perfect movie. Controversial take: Escape from LA is an amazing underrated Carpenter classic.

I love this film, its filled with fun and spectacle

I couldn't tell you guys what the plot is but I love the movie. Couldn't care less about the story beats or relationships or characters. For me it's just like a... sequence of thematically linked funny/silly scenes.
