New Avro Lancaster Video is up
I have put up the new video for the Lancaster. It's probably part 1 of a series, I'll wait to see how it does before I commit to that. In this episode I cover the bomb bay, wing position, tail, and defensive firepower. I hope you like it. I did try to include some rarely seen pictures.

Epic video Greg, really up there with the other ones and doing the full series would be amazing and also be an amazing o like resource for years to come!!!
Greg Your deep dive on the technical issues reveals the positive and negative characteristics of the aircraft. Most books show pictures of smiling ground staff writing messages on bombs but don't mention the difficulties of loading them. From VE day on I believe there was a moral discomfort in the British public about the devastating effects of area bombing. Churchill did not even refer to Bomber Command in his victory speech. So a/c such as the Stirling and Halifax which only did the regular work are forgotten as is the day to day use of the Lancaster.
Need I say “Great job” again? Thoroughly entertained. I heard/read in regards to the Dambuster raids, they were operationally successful, the practical was a failure. Enormous cost in aircraft and highly experienced crews. Crews who could have trained others etc. I don’t think any raids like the Ruhr valley damn raids were attempted again. IIRC, big caveat😀
Wonderful Greg! I learned a lot
Can’t wait for you to do more videos on British aviation. For those who are interested, which I think Greg will be, the book “Secret Horsepower Race” by Calum Douglas is amazing. Just DONT BUY THE EBOOK, it’s unreadable. Get the hard copy even tho it’s a bit pricey, it’s wel worth it
I really wish they had an editor go through it one more time, though. There are some real annoyances, from missing text (a sentence is broken by hitting the end of the page, the next page starts in the middle of a completely different sentence) to repeated text, to more subtle problems like making an assertion at the beginning of a paragraph and having the rest of the paragraph talk about something else completely. Still, it was a very cool read! It changed my view of aircraft development in WWII!
