Hi Greg. I love the P-47 and by extension this video, of course. I fly the P-47 often in DCS and I have dropped a lot of bombs with it. I really don't have a good methodology though for dive speed/angle, release altitude, targeting using the pipper etc. Just when I seem to be bombing with some level of consistent accuracy, I regress. I would love it if you could find somewhere the procedures taught at Eglin field or elsewhere on how pilots accurately delivered bombs with P-47s.

So no one is getting a Jug Mug.

I hate people who give us software devs this reputation as incompetent buffoons! I haven’t had a defect in production for at least a decade.

One more part to this. Zazzle support asked me to immediately respond in email with the new order number. Of course I neglected to read that part when skimming their email. So it is still busted for you pedestrians out there. Whether it is still busted for me remains to be seen. On the 4th (!) attempt now…

BTW, LinkedIn has gotten me attention where nothing else worked. After our neighborhood went a month with no Internet from our cable provider, and the full run-around from customer service to everyone, I tracked down the CEO in LinkedIn and messaged him. Next week I got a call from their senior tech for our area saying, “I was told to call you. What’s this about?” We had our service restored in a few days. :)

I don’t know where else to post this, since YouTube apparently doesn’t allow links in posts. But regarding that Jug Mug noise: I posted this yesterday on LinkedIn, tagging Zazzle liberally around 10:15 am PDT. I got an email saying they fixed it at 12:35 pm PDT. So retrying my order - third time’s the charm? https://www.linkedin.com/posts/ed-hodapp-a8b7371_this-is-only-peripherally-involved-with-technology-activity-7249825321015730177-mAWB?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_ios

There seems to be some confusion and aggrievement in the video comments about whether you're making the case that the P-47 was the most accurate bomber or just the most accurate plane in Crossbow raids. I believe the video was obviously stating the latter, but there's a bunch of folks who seem really upset that you snubbed the A-36, F4U, and anything else in the ETO that didn't come with dive brakes. Hopefully you can comment on that in the intro to the next video. Cheers

It won’t help. Greg is precise and clear as possible. Some folks just don’t like to listen. Depending on my mood, I am guilty as well. But I do try not to be. :)

To tears, just the facts. I'm a Mossie fan and I say "bravo" to those Thunderbolts. I wonder, though...in Engineering there is a term: "golden screwdriver". As a retired Engineer, I'm fully aware that a prototype (or first manufactured batch) can be made to work perfectly with enough tender loving care. Production is a different animal altogether. Is it possible that the 4 carefully prepared Thunderbolt pilots would not have been representative of the day-to-day grinders they are compared to?

Looking forward to comparison with German aircraft, esp Ju-87

I was right! And for the most part, my reasoning was solid.

When you're fighting a swarm of mosquitos, it's not surprising when a few cockroaches sneak in.

p
pinkbimbobambi · September 28, 2024

Begs the question. What if you sent a flight of Mosquitos and flight of Thunderbolts on a single mission? Would that have been a good idea or even possible?

Great video. I remember seeing a comparison on B-17 vs Mosquito. I had never seen the rest. Thank for your Mosquitp and P-38 videos as individual subjects and as comparisons. Can you do something on the P-38k, a solution to the propeller problem but too late. Ta152 performance in 1943!

And I will be drinking those sweet salty tears in the comment section. Cheers!
