Debate today has been CANCELED :(

Sadly, there is some sort of technical issue with the latest Zoom update. Thus the debate has been put off for today and is being rescheduled.

Hope this gets sorted out soon as this is must see for me, I’m not only a supporter of this channel, but I also own a digital and hard copy of his P-51B book that I’ve been using to facilitate my own project. Mr. Marshall seems to be a nice guy as well from my limited interactions with him online.

Bruno, our test yesterday didn't go well. The problem appears to be the internet connection as Mr. Marshall's residence. This has pushed it back at least a week.

Christian, the debate moderator is handling those aspects. Mr. Marshall and I have shared a number of documents. One from me which is a speech from a Yale History professor who was also a P-47 pilot during the war, that is on the Air Force Academy's website. Mr. Marshall send me a document which is basically a collection of USAAC/USAAF documents, most of which I had seen before, but not all. There will be things that come up that I suppose neither of use saw before or considered, but I'm prepared for that and I don't think it will matter much.

Any updates on when it will be rescheduled for?

Hello Greg, looking forward to this - one suggestion though in terms of making a debate like this more about moving the collecting nowledge forwards than having an entertaining debate competition: make it more like how evidence is handled in court, as in, have both sides send in their list of used reference material beforehand (say, less than 10 items each), and have someone watch during the debate whether they only used references that were turned into evidence previously. There should almost never be a surprise reveal "here, on page 204 in this document I found at my local archive yesterday we find the smoking gun", but both sides in the debate could already familiarize themselves with those relevant sections and think about their take on those. And if at all possible, for longer reference documents this should include pointing out the sections that are of actual interest - for example, turning in the entire "Aerodynamics for Naval Aviators" as a reference would be less then helpful.

You can message me here or on youtube, either way will work most of the time.

Good morning Anchorage. Glad I caught your announcement today. Firstly because the discussion mentioned is interesting, but secondly because of your FW 190 announcement. I have been researching the A-8 for a while and want to tie up the loose ends like you. Don’t want to change the subject here, so I’ll head over to the FW190 vids to leave my comments. Or can I do that in the Patreon app? New to this and couldn’t find a reference to the FW 190 vids.

I know this is disappointing, I'm really sorry. I can promise you, I am very ready to do this and I will make it informative and entertaining, so will Mr. Marshall.

Not your fault. No reason to apologize. I think we all know who is ducking who here. Pretty sure you were born ready with your favorite childhood toy, a NACA report in your hand.

The issue is apparently software related. A condition of Mr. Marshall accepting the debate is for the moderator to be able to put up images to support his argument. Not many, it's not an unreasonable request, but some. It turns out that with the current version of Zoom, you can't do that while live streaming on youtube. Andrew, the moderator discovered that this morning.

That sucks. Was actually going to try and tune in even though I rarely do appointment viewing. I think you got him running scared.

When this debate hopefully happens, will there be any advantage in watching live over watching later? Will we be able to add comments like in some livestreams or will it just be a broadcast?

Problems with a software update? That never happens.....

3pm Central, so GMT-6? Do you have daylight saving in the US? Don't want to be an hour late for this...

S
Sean Barron · April 20, 2024

If it helps, GMT-5 currently.

I guess it’s not on now… Why don’t you use google video? If you have a gmail.. or just make one… it’s free and works great.

I'm not sure I would say he is giving me a hard time, but it's probably the guy you are thinking of.

J
John Maguire · April 20, 2024

Also - is the guy you’re debating the author that keeps giving you a hard time?

J
John Maguire · April 20, 2024

What is the title of the debate? Will help to think of good questions.
