The Emperor would have been cooked if not for their cousins being his primary backers back on Terra before the Unification Wars (the 1000 years it took for him to finally completely conquer Terra), i.e the Terrawatt Clan, which effectively sources its origins from the same proto-ideology as the Mechanicum on Mars did (the primary location of mankind's universities, labs etc back in the Golden Age of Technology, before everything went to shit basically. Although I suppose Luna does have some really high-grade geneticists however, but they are/were relatively specialized compared to the Mechanicum on Mars & other cousin splinter groups on other planets etc). Without their resources he, would have probably taken too long to trial & error the Thunder Warriors & other tech gear to outfit them with, if he would have had to do it solo instead of being backed by THE sciencebro enclave faction on Terra at the time. Might have greatly expanded from the 1000 years it took for him to capture a single planet (granted when your planet is littered w/ planet-destroyer 9000s everywhere, and roided up supersoldiers commanded by gazillion factions & hundreds of mad scientist bros doing rogue shit or selling their services to warlords vying for dominance, it kinda tends to take longer to capture a single planet than the less than a year it takes during the Great Crusade to capture one of the other million+ habited by humans worlds in the galaxy on average)
