Kdrama poll
I forgot to turn off the comments on my previous post and now I did but since I saw a lot of people upset with me I wanted to explain something.
Here is my revenue on YouTube
Those are the calculations for a 16 episode K drama of normal 70 minute length
I want to take a moment to share some context that I hope gives everyone a better understanding of how things work behind the scenes.
The polls are open to everyone, and so is this chat room, because I value having a space where everyone can participate and share their thoughts. However, it’s important to know that some features—like uncut videos and access to certain chat rooms—are exclusive to paid memberships. That’s because these memberships directly help cover the costs of producing and editing longer shows, which can get pretty expensive.
For example, I haven’t had Mouse edited for YouTube yet, largely because it’s a big commitment financially and doesn’t currently rank as high in demand compared to other shows like K2 or Healer, which we’ve prioritized. Longer shows especially come with higher costs, and I try to be thoughtful about balancing those costs with what’s sustainable.
At the same time, I want to acknowledge that we’ve come a long way thanks to the amazing support from this community. Just a few years ago, we were uploading two episodes a week. Now, with the growth of our memberships, we’ve been able to upload anywhere from two to eight K-drama episodes in a single week. That kind of progress is directly tied to the support we’ve received from those who contribute to the channel.
That’s why I recently put out a poll—to better understand how many people are actively supporting K-drama content financially and to gauge interest in these longer shows. After I post Mouse and see how it performs compared to its editing cost, I’ll have more data to decide whether more long shows are something we can take on in the future.
I totally understand if some of you feel a bit frustrated, especially those of you who’ve supported the channel financially—it’s valid! Your support has allowed us to take on bigger projects, like Penthouse, a three-season show we tackled because of the amazing growth we’ve seen. It’s all about building the foundation together.
I also want to be honest about something: sometimes, it’s not just about business decisions; it’s about personal preferences, too. As a person, I don’t want to feel pressured into watching something I’m not interested in or don’t enjoy, and I think most people can relate to that. It’s not just about restricting access—it’s about creating content that we’re genuinely excited to react to. I hope that makes sense on a human level.
That said, I do my best to keep our videos and reactions positive. The only way you’d truly understand the challenges would be if we started venting in the middle of a reaction about how long the episode is! And while we’ve joked about it—like during Vincenzo or other shows where we reference the episode length before starting—it’s something I try to approach with a lighthearted mindset.
In the end, I think it’s reasonable to pace ourselves and choose projects carefully. For example, if I’ve already watched eight episodes of a K-drama and find it’s just okay, I still feel committed to finishing it. But committing to 24 movie-length episodes upfront? That’s a big ask!
I truly appreciate everyone here, whether you’re a free member or a paid one. Your presence, feedback, and enthusiasm mean so much, and as this community continues to grow, I’ll keep reevaluating and finding ways to bring you the best possible content. Thank you for understanding and supporting us on this journey!”
