HOT TAKE 🔥 Marry My Husband Vs Twinkling Watermelon

Both are completely different dramas. Tw is slice of life and mmh is revenge plot. I noticed younger audience loved twinkling watermelon more as they all can relate to it
I feel like, remember,Lee and the gang are not that well versed in makjangs etc. so for them this might be a new territory altogether,so it`s exciting. I`ve been watching dramas since early 2000s,so for me MMH is mad boring and predictable, but I had the same exact reaction when I saw my first makjangs way back. Those were even crazier. I liked TW a lot, gave it a 7/10,but I think My Dearest was the best KDrama of 2023,personally. The acting was superior to anything that came out in 2023,even Moving. As a writer,my favorite KDrama ever is It`s Okay,That`s Love. It just hits every beat I look for in a drama and to this day I go back to it and find something new. Best romance in KDrama history, killer OST,characters that are complex,it`s not too long or too dated. It`s funny as hell,I knew the moment older characters started twerking in a messed up situation,I was gonna love it. Characters feel adult but not boring, the ending is SO satisfying and I quote it all the time😂. KDramas are so diverse, there`s something for everyone!
Yea. Its fresh to me. Even i know i would get tired of it haha. So i dont mind watching others even so we do not get bored of the same lol
Both are good in their own right! I like them both for different reasons
Zero interest in MMH thanks to the boring plot while I loved TW thanks to the creative plot, cast and great comedy. Also, Ha Eun Gyeol and Ha Lee Chan were one of the best dad-son pairs in all of entertainment.
Nah, nobody is the same, so ofc opinions vary. Great analysis of both shows! Despite the time travel, they're both drastically different from one another.
i really dont know why ppl even compare them because i feel they are complete different types of shows and they are both written well for the characters and story lines that are going on. also recently found out btw our dear sumin is in a bully scandle atm but not sure whats going on with that
World of the Married, involves a Doctor who finds out her husband is cheating, then goes on a single handed mission to make everyone involved absolutely miserable. Also a highly rated show.
I agree with your take. If you want super toxic people all trying to revenge on each other, then you'll like Penthouse or World of the Married. Penthouse is sorta like Cobra Kai (in parents passing down their beef to the next generation, but instead of karaoke, it's a buncha rich people, poor people and opera singers trying to shank each other, that and there's a good kill bill revenge plot. It's considered one of the best of all time because it is a top 3 highest cable ratings for ANY KDrama.
They would fucking love the penthouse but its is 24 ep drama
MMH has a very typical kdrama plot. Such dramas not recommend by the audience because it might have more episodes than required like the penthouse. Korean drama are filled with such drama love revenge plots. Since I have watched a lot i. Naturally compares it. Although it is good show nonetheless. Also as someone who was bullied by somebody like sumin, I can’t stand it when poeple support her but then again a good villian is a good villian. but it does give me satisfaction when they go down. Also watching a show alone is quite different than watching it with somebody. Watching Tw alone, i felt every single emotion, especially someone is close to my parents but had to grow up early. I guess it TW hits me harder cuz it touches the subjects i am close with. The mother being bullied but the son ends up saving her reminded me of my mom and her dark past, only if i was there to help her. I understood every single action taken by the main lead.
I too agree watching with others brings different emotions. I actually cry when i watch TV by myself or with with my daughter lol. I do not cry when i watch tv with my wife or my friends. My “guard” is completely down with my child and we just vibe lol. I also was bullied. Lol. Unfortunately i learned bullies usually dont bully other bullies. So i bullied others i found weaker and built relationships…with bullys. So they left me alone. Unfortunate. But that was how i survived youth
I liked Twinkling Watermelon a lot, and it was a great watch. But Marry My Husband was such a fun ride, it made me want to binge episodes lol. I'd pick MMH over TW, but like you said the writing quality of TW was much better. Loved your takes!
I clicked right away with Marry My Husband. Loved all the good characters. The actors who played awful people really killed their characters because I couldn't stand them. I've watched 6 episodes of Watermelon and I'm still not in love with this drama. I love the actors but it's not hitting for me yet...I'm waiting for that to happen. Everyone is different.
It does not happen for me either aside from the girl who can not hear. Essentially the only character i “care” deeply about
In my opinion Marry my husband was kinda mid, if it wasn’t for you guys I wouldn’t have finished it. The characters were almost cartoonish. The Female lead was so naive it was painful to watch, the Male lead was one step away from being a creep, damn near everything he’s done has been borderline creepy. The husband had no substance, bro was evil just to be evil. Sumin was alright and the fiancé who is suppose to be a smart ruthless business woman was making stupid decisions the whole time she was on screen. 6.5/10.
how was he creepy for trying to help someone not die and fix how they were treated? what are you talking about? And how is being super naive not a real thing. i prefer twinkling watermelon but this analysis was borderline on trolling
I have found that I often have different choices for things that i prefer and what I think is better. A recent example I have is konosuba and re/zero because of the new season. Re/zero is, without a doubt, the better show, but I like konosuba more because it does not put me in a bad mood when I watch it. I would watch konosuba again but not re/zero. It’s just the difference between looking at something subjectively and objectively. So I definitely see where you are coming from.
I stopped right before yo got to spoilers. I haven’t seen either drama yet. I barely got through episode one of marry my husband. Even though I love Park Min Young. Gonna try to push through.
Why did you barely get through? Wasn’t hitting? I think if you don’t like ep 2. It wont be for you
I can appreciate your take on this... you like what you like and ultimately that's all that matters.
Thank you 🙏🏽
