Fifa 22 - Out of Pack (OOP) Investing
Touching on another amazing investing opportunity today that focuses on out of pack investing!
Out of pack investing refers to buying players that will no longer be supplied on the market for an extended duration of time.
The first opportunity we will see for this is investing in cards that transfer right as Fifa 22 releases.
In these first 2 examples, you see META cards who got transfers such as Bale and Semedo. These cards quickly became VERY rare on the market. Not only did they increase in price, but they were so rare people would pay for you to list them. I know of someone who sold a Barcelona Semedo for $500 cash. LOL! This was simply to plan a specific listing time.
Now, I don't want that to be your only intent, but I do want you to know rarity will exponentially increase a cards value. These cards would not be supplied the rest of the year!
A more realistic and easy to buy example is Manchester City's version of Otamendi. The transfer was pretty much set upon Fifa releasing, but things had not been switched over and he was getting supplied.
He is a 79-rated CB and has great SBC links. He is particularly helpful for the Advanced SBC section.
As you can see, he started the game around 1.5K, but when he was no longer supplied he went as high as 5K+
These are more of one-off examples due to transfers, but out of pack investing is prevalent all year. When players receive special items in packs, their current cards go out of packs, which can lead to big rises in packs.
For example, let's say Mane performs great with 2 goals in a 2-0 win. It's very likely he will be selected for a TOTW card and his gold card will go out of packs! Since Mane has very high demand, without supply you should see his price rise from demand!
This is also the case heading into promotions where a player will feature. Promotional cards can be very random, so investing for these would be more reliant on leaks and loading screens. TOTW can be more predictable.
HOW TO INVEST?
EA typically releases transferred cards in waves. They don't have much rhyme or reason to specific dates, but they do them in bulk. Last year, it ended up being primarily on Friday every few weeks when we needed them
This is very similar to inform investing where you're best of club stocking or buying A LOT! This is because they are low value, but high ROI.
Now, regarding cards going out of packs for TOTW you typically want to be invested by Tuesday. EA previously announced TOTW at 3 PM UK on Wednesday, but this year they announced items at release of 6 PM UK on Wednesday. I still would want you invested by Tuesday in case leaks inflate prices.
If the card going out of packs is fodder based and used actively in SBC's typically buying quite a few is your best route. If you're buying META cards like Saint Maximin, Fred, Martial, Mbappe, etc you can really buy what your budget allows!
WHEN TO SELL
This investment actually has 2 great options for selling! You can sell into the hype of announcement or wait a few days while supply lessens.
As people and newer traders see TOTW announced, they often rush to go buy cards going out of packs thinking they have a great idea. The key thing here is that they're late. If you can sell to them for profit, they're likely doing it wrong.
If you like your margins here, it's a great time to sell.
Secondly, the cards should naturally rise as they move further away from being supplied. This is especially the case with SBC fodder cards and it's even more prevalent on Xbox/PC than PS. Items are already more rare there, so it doesn't take much for their prices to increase!
Example from this year -
I predicted both Goretzka and Alaba would feature in FUTTIES Team 2! Their TOTS would both be in packs and gold cards would not be supplied. Here are the shouted prices and current prices!
Another META example from early in the cycle. Sold at announcement.
Bought a bunch around 97K and sold 120K+! Was one of my biggest early trades!
