A Little Update About Changing to Monthly Subscriptions
Hey everyone, at the very end of march I made a post explaining our forth-coming change to subscription billing however this ended up being a little more complicated than I first thought. I've been working behind the scenes with a rep from Patreon and I've finally got everything sorted (as far as I'm aware) for this to go live at the beginning June.
So a couple of things. Since I already painted the 5 maps for this month with the assumption that it would be faster to switch over to the subscription billing I'll once again be releasing 2 of the map packs for free for premium members so that you're still only paying for the normal 3 maps but you'll receive 5 map packs instead.
Secondly while thinking about this new payment model I came up with some new good ideas that hopefully you guys will like.
1. All future map packs pre-views for the next month will be released the week before the end of the month.
What this means is that I'll have a Mega post once per month showing all the maps and map variants or other content you'll get for the next coming month (At the end of May I'll release a preview of all the maps for June and so on). This will allow you guys to know if you want to stay subbed for the next month or not allowing you to unsubscribe for that month so you don't waste any money on content you're not going to use or stay subbed for the next month of awesome content.
2. Each months main released maps will be themed. This is a little bit of a test and I'll need your guys feedback as we go as to what you want more of but currently the idea is I'll come up with a theme, paint out the main set of maps with that theme in mind then write out a short adventure seed like description (1-2 paragraphs) for each of the maps that connects them together. This won't be like the adventures I used to write which were quite in depth but rather a basic idea that you can use as a starting point for a campaign or series of sessions based on the maps. Variants as usual could be anything and won't necessarily follow the months theme.
I think that's everything for now, I'll update you guys again if anything changes and hopefully everyone will look forward to the end of the month when I unveil the first themed map month for June!

Can't give my opinion on "theme of the month" releases until I see how it impacts map design, but I am in support of the decision right now. I don't remember if there will be variants.
Variants will continue as normal, just the main release maps will be themed. :) ~ Luke
Sounds great, try out anything that works for you. As for themes of the month, I think those can be great but I would also say don't be a slave to the theme or be afraid to be creative. Like if the theme was elves and you were doing forest maps and all the green made you want to do a hobbit borough totally go for it. Or a guild hall of Dwarves that really dislike elves. Trying to say still let the inspiration take you even if there is a theme 👍
Great feedback, thanks James that's a really good idea that I shall keep in mind! ~ Luke
Hello. I have a question and a comment. 1. I am trying to remember the upcoming changes. Will there still be a cap for how many maps we get/pay for based on subscription level? Or will it be up to us to review what is coming up and change our subscription accordingly? 2. I am excited for both the smaller scale maps and for the adventure prompts. The new ones may not be as in-depth as before, but I often used the old adventures as basis for my own sessions.
Hey Daniel, when we switch over to the subscription model the cost will be a flat fee that you don't have to change at all. Each month you'll always receive all the maps. That only think you'll have to check is to have a look through the maps and variant maps for the next month when I make the big post about it just to be sure you want to stay subbed for that month. Of course I'd always appreciate everyone that sticks around even if there aren't a ton of maps for them that particular month but stuff is getting tighter with funds for a lot of people so If it's not worth it just de-sub for that month then come back later when I'm releasing some more stuff you like. For the prompts I hope they give some inspiration for what I was thinking when I painted the maps as well as good jumping off point. I think the maps for June are going to be really fun. :) ~ Luke
