I'm really curious as to what Urahaha did to Grimmjow. Due to the translation of the version that they watched here, it's a bit different from another translation I watched earlier. Grimmjow actually says when he bit Yhwach "what did the old man do to me" implying that Kisuke somehow modified Grimmjow which enabled him to neutralize Yhwach when he bit him. Hopefully they explain it in the final episode.

The reason I assume Yhwach smiled at the end is that, in the visual imagery of his inner world, Ichigo’s final slash severed all the red threads connecting Yhwach to the deaths of the quincies, and all the suffering and anguish that came with them. Yhwach constantly feels and hears their suffering. That’s why, at the beginning of this episode, he said he wanted to create a world of nothingness, so he could finally have the peace and quiet he had always desired, as he stated back in ep. 1 of cour 1. That’s also why the sound gradually faded during the final slash, to convey that Yhwach could no longer hear the cries and anguish of the Quincies.

Personally the wait kind of diminished the emotion behind it but I understand why they had to do it. Still so much better than Manga. All the added details made it feel so much better. Man I really hope they green-light Hell arc.

I hope they've finally killed this nigga Yhwach. This final battle felt dragged out for a while now and I swear this dude has had more battle phases than Ansem in the final battles of the first and second Kingdom Hearts games combined. This felt very Avengers: Endgame coded. Everyone had a hand in the final battle. Because everyone had a stake in the final battle, it was an all-hands-on-deck situation. I'm glad to see everyone play a part in beating this dude.

How poetically fitting that it’s the 9th episode of this 4th part in which Yhwach is defeated. 4 = Death in Japanese and 9 = Kaisersagen (“emperor legends”) in German lore. This Episode is the culmination fluid action animation spectacle and choreography fully living up to the term ‘Movie Quality’ unlike anything seen before. The path that Uryu created for Ichigo after firing his Getsuga and when he charges that golden arrow along with him, flying across the battlefield as well as Yhwach defeat looked straight out of either Fate or Demon Slayer mixed with the setting of the eclipse from Berserk. A true climax point love letter to all Bleach fans and was without a doubt worth the month and a half wait from the previous episode. On Twitter when it was announced to be delayed, a veteran animator Nakano Miyu stated “I will bring you the best episode. Please wait a moment” and man was she right on the money, complete savage aura. Practically everyone got their chance to shine, and even for those that didn’t who were expected, that alone makes it abundantly clear that this isn’t the complete or true end of Bleach. Between this and BC, Studio Pierrot proving they’re one of the best OG anime studios. That silence at the end of triumphant victory was true perfection along with making the parallel of “Old Man” Zangetsu as Young Yhwach reflected upon the blade- A True canceled out irony moment, such is the beauty and to serve the message of self acceptance that Bleach represents.
