Episode 7 | Ze Wind In The Ass
Well this time Bix called it, we finally were sailing downwind. I had prepared my spinnaker three times and put it away. But third try was the one. To be honest, I was apprehensive and almost chickened out. I had to give it a try, and got the big orange sail filled with a deep southern wind. And when the wind shifted and increased to 17 knots, gusts would heel Galopin sharply, I reacted and deflated the big sail to hauled it in. Again I was apprehensive at first, and apprehension is a lot worse than the act. That was quite a journey and learning experience.
Later a whole other journey begins. One of less postcard scenes and of more guts. The insides of Galopin are opened up. This when a new character comes into the story. Daniel is a Jeanneau specialist. 30 years with the company putting boats back together or perfecting them for long journeys. And now he’s offered to help out Galopin and be part of my Winded Voyage.
I had, and still don’t much idea of what it takes to get a vessel prepared for long hauls, and boy am I learning. This is not a how to video, as it gets way to complex to film and work at the same time. But you’ll get the gist of things.
Thanks so much for your generosity, it really helps, especially during this journey.
Much love, Alex.
