Another Yacht Is Lost
Hello Winded Voyagers. Sailing here is no joke. Another beautiful sailboat is lost to the extreme weather conditions. Luckily no one was hurt.
While my boat is going back in the water after a successful haul out, another boat is lost due to the extreme weather conditions here in Cape Verde. Sailing up the Sao Vicente Canal is not easy. Especially when the weather forecast is forty knots and up. It's a sad ending to a beautiful sailboat, but the upside is that nobody was hurt.
Big distant hugs and much love from Cabo Verde

Do you know what failed on the Yacht ? So sad but thanks for reporting!
It was an accumulation of many things. The captain is at fault mostly in my opinion. It's worthy of a novel or short story. He tried to sail up the Sao Vicent Canal in +40kts. That menas up to 60kts gusts. You do not attempt in theose conditions. He tried a last tack to close to the shore. Lost motor. Had to use emergency tiller. Tore a sail. Broke his mizzen mast. All this in huge waves and fierce wind. He couldn't tack nor gybe and he grounded. I sailed u taht canal in 35kts. And it was hard!!! It sucked man. Hope to never do that again.
