Episode 75 | Living In The City, Port Of Praia

Hello Winded Voyagers. 

Well it seems we're all in the same boat. Here in Mindelo Cape Verde were in lockdown too. There is one person who is infected on the island, but it seems proper measures are keeping the virus from spreading. Eight people, care givers, whom were in close proximity have been tested and they were negative. As well, about a hundred persons have been sent home in quarantine. I feel very fortunate to be here in Cape Verde.

But back to Winded Voyage. This episode takes place just a few weeks ago, before.... It was strange to work on this episode, everything was so normal as I saw it on my screen. Meanwhile everything is not normal just outside of my boat now.

Everyone says "Don't Go To Praia!" Well we did.

We sailed into the bay and moored at the fishing pier next to fishermen. The beauty of living on a sailboat is that you can live one day near a deserted  beach and the next in a busy city harbour. We are living in the city, the Port of Praia, alongside fishermen, fishmongers, diesel mechanics and more. We visit the police and get a visit from the best diesel mechanic on the island for my Perkins 4108. And stroll around a wonderful city said to be dangerous. It's not, you just have to turn on your street smarts up a notch.

Thanks you so much for supporting me and my project. I also want to say that your support also goes in part to people here. I regularly help and buy food for friends or buy some phone credits. It not much, but it's more than many have. They are so kind and brave here. I hope life will be back to normal so they can earn enough to get by.
