The clouds have gone and the sun is shining again. But it was scary here in the bay i Dakar a few days ago.
This video documents the somber hours after a severe storm hit our bay in Dakar. A poorly anchored work barge drifted through the anchorage, causing serious damage to boats that were otherwise securely moored.
From Stan’s crushed dinghy to the sunken pirogues being pulled from the depths, we look at the harsh reality of boat ownership in these waters. But amidst the wreckage, we celebrate the locals who hold this community together, like Arona, who knows the sandy bottom better than anyone.
Despite the destruction and the pollution, this is also about "Terranga"—the welcoming spirit of Senegal that keeps us here.
