African Haul Out: The Last Proper Boat Yard in West Africa | S8E07
Hello Winded Voyagers
After securing a new three-month visa in Dakar, the wait is finally over. In this episode, Galopin is pulled out of the water for essential maintenance at the only place in West Africa to properly care for an ocean-going vessel.
Watch as the local team, Arona, Pape, and Tafa, execute a 100% handmade haul-out. Rejecting power sanders to avoid damaging the hull, they scrape and sand by hand all the way down to the primer, working through the weekend without slowing down. Between the hard work, we get caught up in World Cup fever, enjoy a "Barbecue à la française" after the France vs. England match, and take a musical break with Khalil.
Once the distractions fade and the tournament ends, it’s back to business: applying the primer coat to prepare Galopin for antifouling.
Much love from very hot Dakar

Easy out, hopefully easy in!
Has to be easy, yet on shaky ground
