[POLL] Natalie Feedback
Hi everyone!
A while back we started hiring voice actors for School of Lust, but due to issues with Patreon and not finding the right voices, we had to put it on the back burner. We've recently been searching for voice actors again, and we're committed to adding voices to School of Lust before Beta launches.
As we previously agreed on with some of you, we plan to add minimal voices first and we will look into doing full voices in the future (when all dialogue has been proofread). With minimal voices we are referring to (for example); greetings, goodbye, agree, reject, moaning and other short sentences / reactionary voices.
We want to make sure that we hire the best possible voice actors, which is why we decided to ask you guys for feedback, before we make a decision.
We've started looking for Natalie's voice, and we've had over a dozen auditions! Out of those, we've picked our 3 favorites ones. The audition consists of 4 (sfw) lines from when you first meet Natalie in School of Lust.

Agreed. 2 is the best of the lot, but frankly, I still have concerns with that voice performance. However, I have to remember that she only read three lines; hopefully, she'll improve as she goes through Natalie's lines.
1 & 3 are simply shrill. Reader #2 a better forensic reader.
Honestly don't like any of them for Natalie I can imagine Voice 2, as in the tone of voice 2 for Sofia, but how they've done Natalie is incredibly...whiny As opposed to gullible and innocent
1 and 3 are to high pitched, just cringed when I heard them sorry, maybe less high pitch and they would be good. Also when I heard voice 2 I thought of Violet, not Nathalie, maybe consider that :)! Cheers, keep up the good work!
of those 3, 2 was a clear winner for me. 1 and 3 are too high pitched while 2 would be perfect for the girl next door, I could see 3 for Claire *maybe* but only because it didn't sound like lilypichu acting out a sexy bit
#2 should be like violet or smthing
voice 2 is too americanized. also too deep tho they are all good but 1 is the clear winner
how in gods name are you people this blind....that second actress was def the worst of the 3? Both the 1st and 3rd and close and def the best, and either would be great but the 2nd one doesn't fit at all to this game
I think what people like about the second actress is her voice. She sounds more mature and organic. The rest of the staff agrees that her voice sounds very organic compared to the rest, which makes her voice very likable, however her accentuation may not be too fitting for Natalie. She doesn't really sound like an airhead that Natalie is supposed to be.
These are all some quality actresses. I'm impressed.
As someone who has never liked voiced characters in games like this, I cringed within the first five seconds of each of these. I don’t mean to disparage all the work you and the voice actors are doing, and I realize this feature probably isn’t intended for people like me, but the provided samples would have to do a lot more to win me over to not auto-muting voice lines. But, if I had to choose from the options provided, #2 sounds the most realistic and would get my begrudging vote. In all my years, I have never heard a real person speak English sentences like the versions in #1 and #3. I think part of the problem with this effort is that you can get get away with some things in text that sound downright awkward and unnatural in actual speech - and having a paid professional adult say some of the things already in the game (like the crude humor in the voice samples) may make it a tough sell unless you go to the trouble of rewriting the dialogue to sound more natural when spoken.
Hi Rick! Thank you for your feedback. I think our main focus right now is to add minimal/reactionary voices and not voice the full dialogue. That said, we'll make sure to add the option to disable voices for those like yourself who don't like voiced characters =)
If I had to have an opinion on voices in -general-, I'd say I think full voice over wouldn't be the best suited for this game. A game of this style I could envision a Fire Emblem-esque route towards voices. Where every character has set expressions and lines that portray their style and personality. And then from there you could voice over more serious situations. That's my opinion at least and I feel that it would give the game almost more of a quality feel than a "let's just add voices" feel
More on that, I wouldn't want the main character to have a voice, but expressions like "Hmm umm huh etc" would be perfectly fine in almost anyone's mind (I think)
After carefully listening to these multiple times, I think modified #3 would be best suited for her out of the choices given to us. #1 definitely does not fit any of these characters, she sounds too much like a 10 year old lolly from an anime. And #2 is not a voice i see Natalie having, I think #2 would be better suited for another character, Violet comes to my mind.
Hate to disagree with the majority of comments but voted in the majority . Way I see it, yeh, Natalie is a total bimbo so squeaky voice for sure, simply 2 sounded believable, 1 and 3 sounded to put on. as for the idea of using any of the voices for violet or sofia, you guys cant be serious!?? Claire maybe

I agree with a lot of the people here, 2 just doesn’t suit her. I like one the best, 3 is fine too but I don’t like 2 on her at all. The modified version still isn’t quite right to me.
Voice 2 doesnt fit. Voice 1 sounds more ditsy and fits better. Voice 3 would fit, but not ditsy enough

Yes voice three is instant what I’d imagine her voice to be and voice two would make a great Sofia in my option
I agree with Rouge_chaos. I think voice 2 would personally suit Violet more if she threw more attitude into it. 1 and 3 kind of feel too young though. Also I wasn’t joking before, if you need male voices, I’m willing to help. I’ve been trying to put together a Backstage profile and everything!

voice 2 could be a good Sofia or violet but voice 3 sounds close to what nat should sound like.

Are people really picturing her and thinking voice number 2 is good? I can't see that voice matching, third definitely! First can still work.
