Mass Effect 1 Legendary Edition is now playable in full head-tracked VR.
Real stereo depth. Look around the Normandy. Walk the Citadel. Stand under a Reaper or just enjoy the vibes of experiencing such a beautiful game.
It comes with 3 VR modes: Stereo, AER, and DIBR. First-person gameplay is also in, but remember, it's a third-person game originally, so don't expect a full FPS conversion.
After finishing the game last year, I always wondered why no one made a proper VR mod for it, so I decided to make one.
Install Instructions: Put the files next to the MassEffect1.exe
\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME1\Binaries\Win64\MassEffect1.exe
BEFORE YOU PLAY - IMPORTANT
Turn OFF HDR in Mass Effect's own video options. If you boot the game and it gets stuck blue/doubled in the headset, that's HDR - go turn it off there.
Small Update - Fixed a resolution issue.
Small Update 2 - Meta Quest headsets should work now.
Update 3 - This now contains V3 fixes.

Hi, Thanks a lot for your mods, just tried it (V3) on mass effect 1, works great and the menu is complet, really great. Just a little thing, the world seem to be very big (PSVR2/steamVR), on UEVR or REALVR, there is a setting called "world scale", do tou think you can add it? Also, Depth of field remains active during cutscenes, even if it is disabled in the MELE VR menu, so everything is blurry except for the main character. Thanks again for this great work
hey if you looking for new games to make :) there are some cool older titles Metal Gear solid V - Phantom pain the mad Saints Row Games like Saints Row The Third remastered, Saints Row IV Sleeping dogs The Saboteur any of the Call of Duty or Battlefield solo campaign's with head aim would be mad like CoD Advance Warfare Kaye and Lynch 2 Star Wars Battlefront 1+2
In Vive Pro the right eye view keeps oscillating left and right. This is true in both Stereo and AER modes.
The Evil Within Series and Starwars Battlefield sereies would be also amazing !
Oh this is amazing! Will you be looking to do the same for ME2 & ME3? ME2 is my all time favorite game and to be able to play it in VR would be absolutly incredible!
Update: It's working now. Windows defender deleted the dxgi once modified. Great mod, thanks! Isn't working for me. I'm using a Quest 3 with Virtual Desktop and the game launched in flat and only on the left side of the desktop. Pressing insert also doesn't do anything and the dxgi file always gets deleted once the installation with the Mele-VR.bat is done
Just tested it. Performance is good. I can do stereo rendering at 10k resolution. But the 3D depth feels unstable. It looks good when looking at far away objects, but up close objects feel too big, almost mono.
I'm using a Reverb G2 and I can get all the menus but for gameplay I just get a black box in steam vr saying "waiting"
i just started playing it in pancake but couldn't really adapt after years of vr. great news. Shepard out ;)
HI Halcyon, Stereo rendering doesn't work; it's only Mono when set to stereo; AER etc adds depth but not comfortable! + when I move my head there's distortion, which means FOV doesn't match headset FOV! I'm playing the EA launcher version and have a Rift S
What are you using to connect to the pc? virtual desktop?
Hi, is head aiming with a gamepad playable?
Yeah. head aiming with the gamepad.
I'm getting super low resolution in vr, like 1920x1200p plus stereo effect is pretty bad lacked dept not very 3D like. Any way to fix this?
What are your specs? what settings did you choose in installation?
Hey just trying your mod out and can't get it to work. When I start the game I just get the Mass Effect start screen that says Press Any Key in my headset view. But I can't do anything. Pressing a key does nothing. I am using a gamepad and pressing buttons on the game pad does nothing. It just stays on this screen with music playing in the background. On my PC monitor I just see a blue background with the game's mouse cursor visible on it. No actual game menu screen like the one I see in my headset. I have a Pimax Dream Air using the native Steam VR driver from Sboys 3. Any idea what's going on?
I don't know sboys3 is.
Awesome!
