Life/Progress Updates
[To my future self: Images Removed. Put them back if things change.]
Hi. My draft update's been sparse recently, partially not wanting to spoil too much but primarily due to moving to a rural house where there was no internet and weak cellular. I got copper for now, fiber in a few days. Love the view and ambient sound though.
I've been making a large-mutated-toad-related short graphic novel. You can probably imagine how that'd go. I should release it sometime this month. Still working on the story and the toad's biology.
Meanwhile, did an experiment, seeing the pros and cons of doing the standard painting process of sketch, clear line, flat color, shading, light, and atmosphere (which I normally don't have the patience for) versus just straight to lights and shades.
Here's one of the draft sketches that I've spent about an hour figuring out its composition:
And here's another draft that I just smeared light and shades however I felt like from the start:
I did spend a night thinking, 'What the hell am I even sketching for?'
Surely there are benefits to the standard process. But I did enjoy the latter more, felt more fluid, and that dark/concealed vagueness highlighted the horror theme better for me. I'd still polish it more and make it brighter to show what's going on. But otherwise, I'll probably do that style more often.

I look forward to the toad. Enjoyed the darker image as well.
