Thoughts for 2024... image by Seth Roland
It's been the first year without my mom. She died at 59. It was a horrifyingly painful death for her, and painful for my sisters and I just to witness. The downward spiral of our stepfather has also been painful to deal with. I won't go into detail as he has threatened to sue me and technically this is a public post, but yeah it's been rough for our family.
I have learned so many things... mainly that we can't avoid an inevitable pain. We can do our best to prepare for the worst, but there is nothing anyone can due if our fate is to be tortured. This is probably one of the main reasons I don't believe in God. If he were real, he would never have done that to my mom. She was an angel.
So I have learned to accept pain more readily...
I have also learned to speak up for myself more. There are things in this life I have endured that I no longer need to, and I can free myself by advocating for myself.
I do love nude modeling and will continue to do it! But I want to do more stuff to. I started writing a book this year :) Hopefully it will be published by the end of 2025! Anyone reading who has experience working with a publisher, let me know! I am in the market :)
Thanks for reading :) Hoping for a fruitful and positive 2025!!
Peace & Love Ya'll

My Tai Chi teacher is a very successful author (mostly sci-fi) who is married to an award winning horror novelist. They also teach aspiring authors how to get published. I've heard some of their advice about finding a publisher when he is talking to new writers. Generally, his advice is that authors should get paid for publishing several short stories before seeking an agent. You didn't mention the genre you are working toward, but if it isn't fiction, his advice might be different. While they charge for the personal tutoring classes, they do have a free weekly Zoom meeting every Friday from 12-1:30pm. These meeting often deal with ways to deal stress, find joy, mental blocks to success, mentorship, focusing on life goals, etc. There is usually about 20 - 30 minutes for general questions and answers at the end. I could send you a link if you're interested.
I lost my mother when she was 58. Lung cancer. A year later my father disowned all of his children and grandchildren in his grief. So I effectively lost both parents. We never get over losses like these. The pain lessens over time and that's all the reprieve we get. All we can do is what you are doing: Taking it day by day and working through it. I'm 40 years removed and I still think of her every day but I'm okay. It's 'only' been a year for you and you'll be okay. Really, you will...
Dear Kristy, I am so very sorry for the pain that you are going through and that you went through with your mom. I so very much wish that as time passes it brings you some closure and peace. Those of us who care for you wish the very best for you.
To a better 2025 for you! Keep on fightin on!
One of multiple reasons I don't believe in "god", and I am a former, I guess can be described, "believer". If that god was real, they should be arrested and tried before a United Nations tribunal for crimes against humanity. That god allows this world of suffering, that god is part of and is the problem.
