National Tesco Big Brother Database

It's the free one!

The little story of a London wine bar heir who decided to create a company that will scan your face constantly to see if you belong on a shoplifting database. And if you pop up, it’ll encourage Tesco employees to… annoy you? We’re not making this up.

The labour party reacting to extremely easy to appease opposition from the left like it's the second coming of Chartism and they're all going to be guillotined in Trafalgar square imminently is very funny.

I remember seeing this "only MAMMALS MAKE MILK" nuttery from some dope here in the States and all I could think was "Coconut milk? Milk of magnesia? Milk of human kindness? COCOA BUTTER?"

jo cox was a member of labour friends of palestine & the middle east, called for the end of the blockade of gaza, and opposed the government trying to curtail the bds movement, saying "it is not only right to boycott unethical companies, it is our right", think she'd fucking hate how her death was being used

I think that the MPs are afraid of the cognitive dissonance involved with maintaining their position, having it pointed out and confronted could be very painful for them

A

Cognitive dissonance is all of white society's favorite pastime, so yeah.

“Face watch” is just pub-watch for supermarkets but instead of the landlord checking his folder it’s automated… “you get banned from one, you’re banned from them all” and you have to stay clean and out of trouble for 12 months to come off the ban. It just means parents on supermarket-watch have to shop online or send the kids in to shoplift.

Let’s say you have an identical twin who gets caught shoplifting. How often would you get flagged up as being your twin?

So my local supermarket (Woolworths in Australia) has a new feature where the self-serve checkout will force the employee supervising the self-serve checkouts has to come over and reset the checkout thing because of new AI camera software designed to detect when someone slips an item into their bag without scanning it and it’ appears to provide false positives about 99% of the time it goes off as far as I can tell (it will replay the video on the screen where I allegedly stole something and it will just not have detected me clearly putting something in the bag)

t
totaltrepidation · February 27, 2024

I don't even think it's an AI thing, the checkout is just analysing the weight on the bagging shelf, and demands an assistant if the weight goes up more than is expected for the item that's just been scanned. It also seems to get mad when it detects a decrease in weight, which is a totally normal thing to happen since people will remove items to rearrange them as they bag them. It's just a hypervigilant system with absolutely no sympathy, patience of knowledge. I honestly feel like the cameras are just there to try and instill fear into shoppers. Seriously, what are the chances that there's a person actually watching that footage? Maybe there's another reason, but I'm not smart enough to know what it might be.

The gang kept trying to distract us with the upcoming episode concerning Kevin Hart's Lift, but the true nonlinear flow of time element in this episode is that mobbed up Keith Starmer at last explains how he and Julia Fox linked up.
