Fences ft. Seamus Malekafzali
We spoke with journalist and friend of the show Seamus Malekafzali about the events unfolding in Gaza, specifically concerned with the question of how things became so bad and the hubris of those made the situation worse while simultaneously losing control over it. Toward the end of the episode and after a jarring change in tone, we review some new editions to Neom and investigate Rachel Reeves' frankly odd manner.

Oh my god, labour is turning into a christian democrat party
I can't wait for the literal nazis in the US government to call the left antisemitic because some of them have even a modicum of sympathy for all the innocent people being genocided
Oh god, not the imperialist as-builts!
What if an Irish guy was Palestinian
Been listening to Lions Led By Donkey’s Stalingrad series. And a big takeaway from that is if you dehumanize your enemy to the point where you think you just intrinsically will always have the advantage over them, then you put yourself in a situation where you can ONLY underestimate your enemy.
The Jarring Shift In Tone was so worth it here because the Mohammed Atta Toblerone bit is one of the funniest things you’ve ever done
Imagine the GOP says Hunter Biden is secretly behind Hamas or a Hezbollah sleeper agent supersoldier
I have an annoying fact check - Betty's is in Harrogate - a v. posh town a county over, not in or near Rachel Reeves's constituency. It's the kind of place she wishes she was an MP of... except they vote Tory. Now tea and cake does exist in Leeds West, but also does her constituents and I suspect she didn't want to get caught out talking to one with utter contempt.
Thanks Alice for your comments starting around 36:00. It’s really dire out there
Enough "woke scolds", more "Norse skalds"
flyters don't rhyme about raids anymore. instead their verses are about beard braids.
the bit about believing your own national myths resonates as an Australian that's watching their society gradually convince ourselves that we won Gallipoli. last time i discussed it someone went "it was a good retreat though"
I am the dreaded triple threat (Anglo-Australian raised in the U.S.) and whenever I encounter this shite I ask which uncle or cousin in Vicky's extended family was worth dying for.
i am so disappointed that it's not spelled "Trogina"
The Trojena tower looks like somewhere a guy with an unsubtle, career-determinative name ending in -man would live in Death Stranding.
The lookout is sinuous meaning curvy, winding (like a road). In Spanish is the only meaning of "sinuoso", so it made sense to me 🤭
I remember Milos Trump being good but this is so good it's criminal.
I appreciate Alice's Jennifer Government reference
I was going to say something about how the Israel/Palestine segment made me feel, and then the beastie boys / Stockholm / china monkey run hit....
Speaking of fire hazards, I wonder if a giant crystal spire in the desert would focus sunlight in any... Exciting ways
I'm just fucking sad Edit: For once the jarring shift in tone has cheered me up
Proof the Ottomans were better than the Brits
Israel is to blame for these events. Give Palestine an iron dome, and arm the Kurds
