Everything Tony Blair All At Once

The Tony Blair Institute for Global Regime Change has released their detailed plan of what an ID card for Britain would look like, how it would be implemented, and why... and it involves MI5, the DWP, and DEFRA getting access to your resting heart rate. Riley, Hussein, Alice, and Milo explore this as well as the totally unforeseen meltdown of GB News and the first days of the most internet poisoned Tory conference ever.

I really could hear, "Join me, Mr. Chapo, in the trans arena," in James Adomian's impression of Sebastian Gorka. Y'all gotta get him on sometime.

Is the separation of people living under one national government into "Public service users" and "Taxpayers" just stupid rhetoric or more likely code for "less useful/privileged humans" and "more useful/privileged humans"? Turning citizens or people into "customers" of the state and its attached corporate cancers has been a major neoliberal project. Superficially, in Germany, this bubbles up into rhetoric like "customer center" instead of "resident registration office".

Wait till you experience true US healthcare where you show a PA (not a doctor) a rash, they write you a prescription and you walk to the pharmacy but the pharmacy is closed the day of your appointment so you have to go back the next day. Once they’re open they tell you they don’t have any prescription under your name so you have to go back to the doctor and have them resend it. You get back to the pharmacy and they are closed for their lunch break. So then you go to the pharmacy a fourth time and finally get the prescription. The prescription is only $5 with your insurance but you get the bill for the PA to look at your arm and say “it’s probably this” a week later and it is $250 with insurance

In my case the rash went away but it’s totally possible in your case it may not and you have to make a second appointment with a dermatologist, who your insurance may not cover because they deem dermatology “cosmetic”

Honestly if you’re disabled you already have to take control of your healthcare. Unless you’re having a cancer scare or something with a really straightforward pathway, you’re going to have to research and present your condition to every medical professional you see. My first appointment with new doctors (before I just gave up lol) was 90% me explaining my medical history and what all the diagnoses I had meant, and 10% them treating me like a novel medical case study. I work for the NHS, I volunteer as a data manager for patient advocacy charities, I coach friends, community members and family through the bullshit paperwork of being disabled. I’ve seen people struggle in so many ways, and it’s so frustrating to see how blind politicians and other barnacles of bureaucracy are to the human beings that live and die within these systems.

And then too many doctors seem to take offence if you know about your condition and start doing their own thing instead of just doing what you want.

Not only will the Maitlises and Pestons dignify the 15 minute city nonsense - Starmer will give it credence too.

Having to google what your own blood test results mean without any explanation from the doctor is already the way things work in the US.

What's your biggest achievement, Mrs Thatcher, Mr Reagan, and Mr Kohl? Oh, we would have to say, Tory Blair, Republican Clinton, and "Genosse der Bosse" Schröder.

Why is Tony Blair

Tony Blair's algorithmically unsentient grin nowadays has a rather unsettling edge to it, like those artists who render the "realistic" versions of Mario, Homer etc but with Wallace from Wallace and Gromit instead. Also trapped us in the same A24 horror movie with it till the sweet embrace of death mercifully takes us into the void. (Wait, should've pressed play first, sorry, just a sec...)
